I recently found out that we are supposed to eat an extra 1tsp of salt / day - seemed alot, so only took 1/4tsp - 1/2 tsp and took 3l water - instantly output thickened up, and fatigue disappeared... ive been really bad at keeping up the regime and fatigue back with a vengence!

Hi Gaz , think you need to check with your stoma nurse and surgeon prior to weights as 4 weeks may be too soon and put you at risk of herniation

I always sleep on my back, but you need to make sure your mattress isn't saggy. Generally my bag wakes me up if it gets full although wind is most likely to be the problem. However output can be very variable - it may be thick at 2. a.m and very runny at 6. a.m. so you just never know. You could wear an old pair of loose high waist pants so that if you roll about the bag is held in place and is less likely to pull off. I usually wear a bag cover which can mop up small leaks and in 45 years I've only messed the sheets on a couple of occasions, and that was with older, less satisfactory bags. If you can, install a night light in your toilet so you can do your business without having to turn a full light on. A plug-in glowing light (which switches on when it is dark) high on the wall (for safety) is ideal unless you have a dimmer switch.

Just managed to catch up this morning - great show guys. Was helping a colleague from Czech Republic move to Scotland. Not sure if before i started it was covered but what about traveling with a stoma - be it train, car or plane ?

Travelling by plane or train is easy enough. Just about prepping and making sure you have a kit with you for the just in case moments X

Yes I am quite confident travelling and have flown once so far since in my stoma surgery in November and about to fly again to Portugal and later in the year to Mexico. Just thought people might find it useful. Like thinking about length of journey, possible spare clothes, process at airport - security etc, lanyards for those he feel they want to use/would help, things to consider on the plane, different climates, higher risk of dehydration, using toilets - eg on planes or trains that are smaller etc - sorry comment should have been clearer - was suggestion for a future topic as requested by Rachel x

Hi guys. I had a GREAT laugh watching this. One great trait if you have an Ostomy is if you posses a really good sense of humour....cos’ you sure do need one at times!! I’ve got some real funnies, I can tell you. One that springs to mind.....a female friend of mine got THE DREADED blockage....from eating mushrooms, which she loves. Well....It was almost time for an inevitable trip to the Hospital for her. In the bathroom, with bag off, she asked her hubby to see if the stoma was a “good colour”, or if it looked swollen. As he carefully looked, a huge portion of mushroom shot out from her stoma, with, as she explained, the force of an Exocet missile - and hit him straight in the eye!! I laughed about this for DAYS!!

Thank you so much for the shout out, twinny! 😊 Great job, ladies! I am loving these videos! Side note - I also have ovarian cysts, too! I am so sorry you suffer infertility! Its not a fun journey, its one of the hardest things and I think I'll always be a little hurt by it. My husband is sterile, and I was told I was good to go, but now we are looking at adoption but it is extremely expensive and I have not hit remission yet. What can ya do... Fingers crossed and hugs! - mary 🍀
