I think Georgie at the Fibre Fox normally dyes a solid Advent, i think the last 3 years have been lightly speckled semi solids but they tend to be fades, so not much contrast.

Hi ! so many things to talk about lol In your last podcast (I believe) you said your were glad to have so "many" applications for the larger sizes, as a plus size woman, I hope you got even more this time ! :) Because of that, I planned to apply but I guess everything is full ! I'm sure it's going to be an amazing sweater !

I love you're designs and podcasts, but I have a question; Is it possible for You to slow a down (just a bit) when you talk? I'm a Dutch with health issues (my brains) are not capable anymore to follow You in this speed of talking. It would mean the world to me if You would consider it.

Advent Ideas: Baby Cat Yarns has gorgeous solids! Still available to order the preorder. But would come from the US. Or I have an advent on order from Beehive Yarns in the UK that is all solids. But that would maybe have to wait for leftovers.

How do designers knit and write up thousands of patterns?!! Do they have sample knitters do the actual knitting part because I can’t imagine knitting that much
@the.creabea

Many years I think? But some of these designers also worked for magazines which are quite traditional in their production processes and would have sample knitters, no testing and 10-15 patterns in a booklet, per season

I remember the cardi. I hv watched you since day one. You have come a long way in a short time ☺️👏👏. We did a test knit together for a shapeless v neck jumper. I can’t remember the name of the pattern. But you weren’t impressed with the results either 🙈😂. Enjoy your holiday xx

this video is so timely! i'm ready to start learning cables but had noooo idea where to start. it seems easier to learn how to do it in the round, since you don't need to read the chart left to right as well? i think i'll try the october road hat!
@the.creabea
4 күн бұрын
I'd definitely agree that in the round is easier! A hat aor a cowl would work well. And of Hudson and West's patterns!

I’m excited for your up coming patterns. They look so fun to work! As for my preferred number of WIPs, Ideally, I like to have about 3 knits on my needles. 1 stockinet or simple Ks and Ps knit for TV watching that I don’t need to look down for. 1 interesting / need to concentrate knit typically something with cables or lace for my “me time”. And 1 small and portable knit that’s a simple enough repeat that I don’t need to refer to a pattern to do. Typically a fun sock or baby / toddler knit.

I really have a problem with the fact that at one hand the knitting community has so much beef with petit knit, because she’s too popular or whatever, I’m never quite sure what’s the problem, and yet on the other hand they’re okay promoting very non size inclusive designers.
@the.creabea

Yaaaaah I feel almost exactly the same. PK did release a summer top a few years ago which wasn't size inclusive and it kind of irked me, but for the most part she creates inclusive designs and is one of the only scandi designers to do so. No hate from me!

Terrific episode, thanks for the research. I knit your Dornie pattern last winter as my first bigger cable project and luv it. Must make another 😊. Am currently knitting up the Hiedra Mitts by Fiber Tales, they have cables and braids on the top, garter stitch on the palms. Very fun pattern and fairly quick.

Norah Gaughan is the QUEEN of cables! Her 'Knitted Cable Sourcebook' is never far away when I am planning my next project. It's rare that I use a pattern as the designer wrote it but her 'Stag's Head Sweater' is SO clever and SO original, I knitted it exactly as she designed it. There's a wonderful cardigan of hers that is often admired when I wear it but I can't remember the design name right now. When I find it, I'll add it. Hudson and West 'Awen' and 'Saven' are for those who enjoy a challenge. The other person I would mention is Martin Storey. His 'Easy Cable Knits' is a fantastic starter book and makes a great gift for someone just starting to explore cable knitting. There's also 'Easy Aran Knits' and 'Afghan Knits'. My tip for cable knitting, especially when using a design from a book, is to scan off the charts to your computer, enlarge each chart to a decent size so they're easier to see and scan off the key to the pattern. Now c&p the key to EACH page of the chart. Saves you flicking back and forth to the key and squinting to see the chart as I find, personally, that charts are generally too small.

so many wips, wow! I'm so excited to knit up a Staffin sweater in a pumpkin spice orange (similar to your stick season wip). And my guest room is also my yarn room, but so far no complaints from my siblings or in-laws - they just say it feels cozy surrounded by yarn, and the extra knit blankets are a bonus, especially in the colder months!
