How exactly would it shock you? It shoots out electricity like a gun? That’s the part I can’t find. I need some visual demonstrations.

An idiot who was taking care of the lawn and pool/hot tub things cut all the grounds off of the devices. The pool heater/pump the hot tub heater, the heavy powered bouncy house blowers. The pressure washer, a few corded expensive tools and the fridge. I lost my shit, he said they don’t fit. 💥 Who’s the ground if something went wrong and my family were all in the hot tub for example? Rather than buying everything new again, I bought the right cord for each thing and installed it but I can see that being a very expensive lesson if one didn’t know they can replace cords. Who does that! Same guy made a little fire pit for the sticks under the trees in the forest beside us too and lit a big fire on a windy day. 👋

you can ground the pin to the literal ground by wiring it

Two or three prong has nothing to do with power. Imply put two prong are double insulated - I am here talking about modern stuff. Wrong on the holes also. The holes are for manufacturing purposes only. In the US outlets do not have anything that sticks to them. In Japan they apparently do though. In Europe we do not have such problems as we can plug anything on an ungrounded outlet.

Sorry but not much of this is correct regarding “too much electricity” and whatnot. It has to do with metal housings of equipment that can become energized under fault conditions
@okaro6595
Жыл бұрын
Actually it has to do with whether it is double insulated. It is true that equipment with metal housing typically use grounding as the secondary protection but that is not any rule.

The holes are added so they can secure the cord with a zip tie during shipment. I got a new ac in today without the holes and the third prong was broke off in the box. There are no power plug-ins that have a holding mechanism you speak of. In fact, that would pose a danger in itself.

Without a ground wire, you ARE the ground. Everything's fine till something's not fine. Any problem and you'll be the ground or a house fire will happen. The ground plug is not added for no reason. It GROUNDS the appliance!

No the extension cord ground prong is not for "funzies" ya loon, it's because people will plug a wide variety of electronic devices and equipment into it. There are examples of people being electrocuted from faulty power tools all because the ground prong was cut off the extension cord. Also it's not just "excess" electricity that goes to ground, any amount of electricity that comes in direct contact (shorted) to ground will in fact flow to ground. I've been fixing electronics for 12 years and am quite disappointed by the misinformation in this video and in MANY other videos here on KZitem.

There are two prong cords also. They should have two prong inputs at the other end. The key rule in extension cords is not to break the grounding. Amazon sells ones that do it. It is better to avoid them,

You can use the extension cord to replace the cord in your compressor easily. (As long as it’s not to long otherwise you can get power drops)Once the third prong is gone the ground won’t function.

"apple charger: its all fancy in here, it knows what its doing - two prongs is safe" No. dc wall chargers, like that one, do all the converting at the wall, so 120v isn't on a cable anywhere. It has nothing to do with "they use very little power"
@jacktrades5

That has nothing to do with it. Appliances with metal cases use 3 prongs because if they short out the case will become electrified. Plastic appliances don't have metal cases so there is really nothing to attach the ground circuit to.
