I see you are using an early version of the NVUM Controller. I've got the later version (Says v5.0 on the board) and I've got some trouble with mach3. I can't seem to get a connection to the controller, when trying to jog mach3 outs out "Device not ready". I've tried using 3.043.062 instead of .066 but that didn't help. How did you get yours running?

Did you install the mach3 plugin for the controller?

@@barelyengineering3697 Yes, I did. On the plugins folder and in the main mach3 folder aswell. I can select it on startup.

Currently building the R-CNC (bought the parts a year ago) and I actually have pretty much the same mods as you do :D (except I have got the x-Belt update) Subscribed!

Hi, it’s me again :) I decided to give a try to the Mach3 control board that you’re using, so I purchased one for myself. Can you please share how did you wire it? Thanks!

Yeah I need to make a follow up video with wiring and calibration thanks for reminding me.

@@barelyengineering3697 Hi there, I'm back here again. Could you please share a picture of your wiring of the NVUM4-SP? I want to know how should I connect the stepper driver to it. Thanks!

nice job, it's nice to see the r-cnc cross the atlentique. Video quality on top, nice improvement, the creator is going in the same direction as you :)

Same to you your videos were a great help when I assembled my machine. Have you used your machine for precise work? I was wondering what tolerences other people are getting with these machines.

Personally, I am only doing basic work with it. But AZE one of the first to have done the CNC has sought to be the most accurate with, kzitem.info/news/bejne/qYWmv4ptcoiDlX4 here is video

Can you use end-stop switches with this Fenteer controller that you purchased from Amazon?
@barelyengineering3697
6 жыл бұрын
Yes but this controller requires the use of mach 3 software (that comes with it) and it has soft stops in the software. So you don't need them really, but it has the connectors if you need to use them.

Thanks! Do you think using this controller will be better then using the new RS-CNC shield that RoMaker did? www.makerfr.com/en/shop/shield-rs-cnc/
@barelyengineering3697

I honestly don't know. The reason that I went with the fenteer controller was soley for the mach 3 support over USB. Mach 3 is a really great cnc controller software and is used in industry all the time. I really need features like auto tool zero and the host of features that comes with mach 3.

I know that the old setup that RoMaker did used Marlon and that has a ton of issues with running a mill vs a 3d printer. If this new board runs Marlon again I would not recommend it for precise work. I have heard that Marlon has microstudders that cause imprecise parts and bad surface finishes.

Nice modifications! What type of cable chain should I choose from the Amazon link if I want the exact one as yours? Thanks!

Oops sorry I forgot that that page has the different sizes of cable chain on it. :) Ive updated the video description to show the proper size. You will need the R38 size cable chain to use the mounts that I made. I will add the brackets to thengiverse tonight.

No problem by the way you have to shorten those cable chains up a little bit I think that I took out about 4 or 5 links out of each one.

Have you tried cutting aluminum with it ? I'm thinking to build the same machine myself
@barelyengineering3697

Not yet but when I do I will make a video about it and the feeds and speeds that I used. FYI I'm quite sure that the machine is rigid enough. When I push down on the spindle with about 20 pounds of force it only deflects about 1-2 mm.

Thanks. My main trouble is that I cant find locally (New Zealand) the matching aluminum extrusion that is used for the frame
@barelyengineering3697

Well there are a couple of options. One is too use plywood but I don't know how rigid that will be especially if you live in a humid area. The other option would be to get the aluminum of course. I would look up the different names of the stuff. The name of it in Amazon doesn't match his title so be aware of that.
