Interesting that there was no mention on how well the blower push air .

In our experience Jotul has been a complete disappointment to us in refusing to service our wood stove, that has an oxygen intake issue since it was installed by their distributor. They were very enthusiastic about taking our money(and much of it;) yet they've failed miserably to back their claims & promises, in refusing to service or to even attempt to investigate & determine what the problem is. The're are surely reliable company's out there & products , up to nowJotul is & has proven not to be one of the honorable mentions. Yet in all fairness, If there's a change of heart on their part? I'll definitely update this (as winter approaches). Yet at this point it seems unlikely from them, i.e or from their distributor by there lack of concern & condesending tone & lack of support & professionalism. .

Something that I don't like is it does not seem to have a bypass for the cat. The Blaze Kings do, which can really help protect the cat system and reduce how often you have to replace it. Having that said, I found out the Blaze Kings that compete with this model are only rated for 16" logs.

The stove does very well for its size. I would like an even bigger stove. The fan? Well I know it has to be the weakest blower I have ever experienced. The installer is coming back to check it out.

@@leonardrichards9079 thanks for the reply i actually purchased a new Osburn 3500 and it is an absolutely amazing stove that produces a lot of heat i believe 110,000 BTUs and its very easy to dial in and it also comes with a blower from the factory that blows good and is quiet so that is my recommendation if you replace your stove for a bigger one

@@kodybecker89 Actually I have an Osburn insert that was purchased around 2011. It was the largest insert at that time. I'm not sure of the model number. The unit burned well and the fan was good. However, it poured smoke into the room whenever you opened the door to reload it with any wood. It's a major disappointment for that reason. Perhaps they fixed that issue by now. I'm glad you are enjoying yours.

is it a z71 4x4 2.5? How are you doing with the 4x4 traction and the extra weight of the Z71 in your 2.5? I want one the same but I'm worried that it's slow on the streets. Most of the ones you see with the 2.5 engine are wt 2wd but I like the z71 with the 2.5. Is it really slower than a 2.5 wt 2wd?

Nice review. I just bought a F500, without the blower....now looking for someone to install. Folks around here are already booked out until January. We are considering adding the blower later on down the road. We've had a Vermont Castings Intrepid Flexburn for 3 years, wanted to upgrade to a bigger/better stove.

Does the temp sensor just pull out or do you have to squeeze something? I can't see and don't want to pull too hard since there isn't much room with the wires. I should have disconnected first

Thanks for the video!! I have the same tractor. I just learned theres a plow extension kit for the 520H so the front right tire doesent hit the plow, when turned to the right I use the single stage snow blower (works great for a single stage). I've been holding off using my the plow. Looks like your right tire doesent hit plow.

They definitely through some heat, every week you should check behind the ash pan for buildup. This can affect the closing of the Ash pan door which can cause severe damage to the stove. Make sure its cooled down. Over firing from the bottom of the stove destroyers the joint compound sealing the stove. Always double check your latches

Very helpful video. I'm trying to decide between the Jotul F500 V3 Oslo and the Vermont Castings Encore Flexburn. This will be my first wood stove, so I'm looking at safety and user-friendliness as primary concerns. How often do you have to empty the ash pan, and do you find that at all difficult? Can you cook on the top, if you needed to? And have you had to access the combustion insert under the top for any reason?
@arthursaey

Hey do you know of any pricing on the Encore from VC? I'm looking at exactly the same two stoves to compare but can't find a price for the Encore
@arthursaey

As for the emptying of the ash pan, it depends if it's your main source of heating, the quality of your wood etc. But for a good stove you'll be emptying it every two or three days when used intensely. I would not recommend this type of stove for cooking though. There are stoves around which are designed specifically for this purpose, so if your kitchen and living area are in the same space, I would definitely consider checking those out. Keep in mind turning on a stove during warmer months is a bit less practical

Do you have an idea for the price of a VC Encore?
@outoftheherd
3 жыл бұрын
@@arthursaey The quote I got was $3339 for the Encore stove itself, and another $3K for the pipe, adapters, wall support kit, chimney, etc. So about $6500 all in, not including labor or sales tax. Since the fed is offering a 26% tax credit on both the cost of the stove and the labor, I figure I'll get about $2K back in credits, which takes away some of the sting.
