@JCIce007

If you squint and ignorethe lesser production value, Creature could easily be headcanon'd as taking place in the same universe as Alien. The titular Creature could just be another variant of Xenomorph biology. A much better movie though, is Outland starring Sean Connery. There's no aliens at all, but the aesthetics and town of the movie are straight out of Alien. The mining station where it occurs looks like exactly the sort of the place where the Nostromo crew would work.

@TheBisness

@@MB-lz5eb Well to me an homage would be something that gives nod to the thing it's inspired by, and doing it's own thing, Where as a ripoff usually says "hey look at the thing we are using don't you like that?" It's not really a set rule, but an example would be like Space Mutiny being a ripoff of Battlestar Galactica/Star Wars. Where as Firefly is an homage to both Space and Western films. Maybe not the best examples but I hope that explains somewhat.

The ALIEN rip-off is collectively the most fun subgenre of derivative cash-in, with only the JAWS knockoffs coming close. It's funny that probably the two most perfect monster movies ever made have spawned so many fatally imperfect clones which are, in an entirely different way, incredibly enjoyable to watch. Maybe it's because JAWS and ALIEN were themselves just A-list versions of old school drive-in exploitation movies, so the subject matter is already perfectly suited for low-budget, formula schlock. It's a cliche, I know, but I'd rather spend a whole day watching ALIEN rip-offs than waste an hour and half watching just about any film on Hollywood's current production/release schedule... ...which explains why LIFE is probably the least fun of any film on this list. Knockoffs should not be made & released by major studios.

When I was a kid I remember watching this movie: I believe it was on a space station or a space ship landed on a planet, where they've found something (egg maybe?), anyway, an alien occurred and started to kill/infecting people. It was injecting its victims with something that made the people into sort of "bloody blobs of protein" is the best way to describe what I remember. The way they defeated it was when they cut the actual tumor from this one guy who had it and made the alien eat said tumor and it killed it. No idea how this one movie was named, just remember that the creature was looking soooo much like the Alien (I vaguely remember a tentacle kill/rape scene too). Really bummed it was not on this list, as I was looking forward to re-watch it if I see it here.
