That woman in Jigsaw absolutely disgusts me. She murdered her own baby, made her husband believe he killed his child, let him be arrested and descend into madness to the point he killed himself out of guilt. And she was never sorry for causing either of the deaths. She deserved what she got in the movie and then some.

While Jigsaw wasn’t my favorite Saw movie, I really liked the way it gradually shifted the audience’s sympathy from Anna to Ryan. By the end of the film, the bullheaded and unlikable Ryan has been thoroughly humbled and feels genuine remorse for his misdeeds because of it, while the initially seemingly compassionate Anna grows more and more selfish and amoral the more desperate she becomes. Toss in the fact that their final test mirrors Anna’s previous actions towards her family in a lot of ways, with Ryan in a similarly helpless situation during the Shotgun Keys trap as her baby was, and that realignment is really pulled off quite beautifully.

The twist of High Tension was a cheap gimmick. It was physically impossible for Marie to be the killer. There's no accounting for where the truck came from if both girls drove to the farm in the same car. And where did Marie get the head wounds when the movie switched to real time. She was "hurt" when she flipped Alex's car chasing the killer in his nonexistent truck. Not to mention it simply destroyed the emotional involvement in the story as it was playing out up to that point.

Tbh, I liked a lot about Fantasy Island other than this twist. Because it didn't really make sense for me--we see Melanie talking to herself as Sloane is in the room, tied up and being tortured, freaking out when she realizes it's 'real', but...no one else is there. No one's there to see her act concerned and freak out. Sloane can't hear her either. So the twist never really made sense to me because it felt too out of left field. Like they were pointing to Nick's mom being behind it as revenge, even supposing that, and it felt to me like they pulled Melanie being the real mastermind out of thin air because "Oh, but we HAVE to have a twist!" And also, Sloane didn't have anything to do with Nick's death, just making Melanie feel bad about herself. And it was ONE date--literally, they had not dated before then. I get she's lost her mind, but even then this is a lot of effort for one guy she never even got to second base with. Sloane being the twist villain would've made more sense (though i liked her character turn around personally). If there had been more hints and clues I could've been okay with it, like the island bugging out or moments Melanie dropped the facade for a second, but it feels so out of nowhere it's just not satisfying and irks me. It literally feels like a last minute change to the script they didn't bother working to make sense.
@regines7486
Жыл бұрын
Just because you think people aren’t watching means that you’ll take your mask off. That is how most villains get caught so it makes sense she still acted concerned/terrified for Sloane. Also, there are people who gets obsessed easily. From what I remember, life wasn’t going well for her and Nick was like “hope” for her. She clung to him even just after one date and even went as far as getting “revenge” and punishing the people who ruined everything for her. The twist made sense, you probably just didn’t get it which is fine.
@dracophile
Жыл бұрын
@@regines7486 I didn't say I didn't get it and it's rather condescending to say I don't when I give a detailed run down of my thoughts. I don't find a mystery, which they were treating it as in a lot of ways, that sets up all the clues to point to one suspect only to jerk the audience around and point to someone who's motives we never see until their big reveal interesting. Agatha Christie this was not. Heck, horror movies like Urban Legend, Identity, and the Scream franchises do a better job at similar twists. If you enjoyed the twist that's fine, agree to disagree, but don't say I didn't "get" it. It's not hard to get when they laid it all out at the end in black and white why she did it (probably because otherwise no one would believe it with how little they hinted at it). I didn't find it an interesting ending personally and more frustrating as far as a narrative set up, that's me not enjoying it but I GOT it fine.

There was a good chance there were cameras watching Melanie, if they had Sloane already chained up they would need to keep an eye on her to make sure she wasn’t dead or escaped before Melanie got to her. By faking her concern, if someone from the group saw her on camera or if something happens and she gets arrested, it would look like she wasn’t the villain
@dracophile
10 ай бұрын
@@BonniRaven I'm sorry but I don't think that makes much sense either. :( This is an island that reportedly makes your wildest fantasies come true. I'm pretty sure a lot of people would not want their time there recorded because it could be used against them if say you wanted a big sex party with a bunch of drugs, have an affair, or you wanted to experience war and potentially "kill" people like your soldier dad. Even as a "fantasy", that could do a lot of damage to reputations. And that includes TORTURING SOMEONE. You can suppose there are cameras, but you can also suppose that guests would probably pay for their privacy to be guaranteed. So even if there was cameras, I don't think they'd risk other guests seeing it happening. Hell, if they're willing to let Melanie torture someone, I don't think they're gonna risk filming it and that getting out. The more vanilla guests would get turned off. So unless she knows there's cameras her rescuing Sloane and being clutching her pearls that she's really torturing her is still something that doesn't makes sense with this twist to me. No one knew who Sloane was or that she was on the island. Melanie could've killed her there, and then go and manipulate the other guests still, instead of freeing her and risking her getting away or working against her. And if there were cameras, they should've showed them to the audience because then it would've been a potentially interesting breadcrumb of "Oh, she was acting because she knew she was being watched!" But again, acting for who? I still doubt they'd let other guests see the cameras easily (though that could've been an interesting reveal, the sweet girl torturing someone on camera. KInd of wish they'd had two bullies and done that now...) so it was a slim chance they'd see. The island is doing a lot of the work for her, it's not like Roarke was that willing to stop her at risk of losing his fantasy. And it even tortures Gwen for her guilt over the fire at times. Sloane was Melanie's catalyst for her feeling bad about herself, but she wasn't directly part of Nick's death so it would make just as much sense to kill her first and or torture her to near death and she can't fight back, then kill the others while expounding on their guilt in killing Nick. And considering the fantasy island guys kidnapped Sloane, I doubt they're going to call the cops. Heck, the others can't call outside the island, and who would even have jurisdiction on a remote island that doesn't belong to America? In fact, this would be a perfect chance to kill her! The ending tried to frame her as some great manipulator getting them all there at once in the end, but it makes her initial character actions that much more questionable because they just don't feel smart for a killer to do. Again, if you like the twist, fine, it's just a difference of opinion. I'm not trying to make anyone dislike it, I'm voicing my opinion after my own analysis of the movie. I like the movie a lot over all, I just wish they'd done the twist better in my opinion. But those who enjoyed it as is are more than welcome to do so, we don't need to keep doing a back and forth trying to convince each other.

I guess to understand some content on this channel you have to watch modern cinema? Most of these, I am scratching my head. You do put stuff out that I can watch

It's kinda ironic that "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" shows character played by Amber Heard turned out to be true vilian xD

Listen…. Idk what it was about high tension growing up. But I COULD NOT watch this movie. Like everytime I would turn it on it would scare me so badly I’d have to shut it off. The truck driver man terrified me. So when I was fully an adult I finally watched it and went…. WHAT😂

You should probably change the picture for the video. Seeing her with the name of the video literally ruins the whole fucking movie

Fantasy Island was a total dumpster fire. Prolly one of the worst films I’ve seen in a while. Or it was until the latest round of marvel movies came out.
