Carrie is a victim, not a villain. Her mom is a sociopathic religious fanatic with a completely messed up history of her own (who not only punishes her daughter for merely getting her period, but tries to murder her after Carrie gets home from the prom and cleans all the pig blood off), there’s a whole group of bullies who make her school life miserable, and all this has been going on for potentially her entire life. Then, just when she’s feeling better about herself, and happier than she’s ever been in her life, she has a bucket of cold pig’s blood dumped all over her. She’s utterly humiliated, the entire room is laughing at her, the bullies are mocking her, and even the handsome boy who seemed to actually like her is smirking while brushing off the bit of blood that splashed on him. The teacher who was trying to help her is nowhere to be seen. All the abuse, all the pain, all the bitterness and her former helplessness just bubbled up and she lashed out. She lost control. She snapped. What happened with Carrie is no different from a battered wife taking revenge on her husband, or an SA victim taking vengeance on their rapist. She was a victim who was finally pushed to the breaking point, first by Chris and her cronies, then a second time by her own mother. If anything, that’s the exact opposite of a villain.

Seeing everyone laughing or smirking at her was Carrie's warped perception because of the words of her deranged mother. Only the bullies who orchestrated it were actually laughing. Carrie is both a victim and a villain--you can definitely be both, in fact, many villains are. Carrie killed a lot of people who did nothing to her and even if they weren't especially kind to her or never came to her aid, is death a just punishment? The bullies and her mother did deserve it. I empathize with the part of Carrie that was victimized but she WAS a villain at the end, even if a portion of it was justified.

What always made me wonder with the tethered in Us was how the connection worked. Bc it appears as if what happens to the surface/real person happens to the tethered clones, but Red and Adelade still had the same kids and husband when the real Adelaide was with the tethered. So, which caused which to happen? The movie makes it seem that the above real people dictate what happens to the tethered. Plot hole or what am I missing?
@CaveMangelo

So for this one, I think the idea of the tethered actually did work for Adelaide/Red in its intended way. She was one of the only ones who actually did control her above self, rather than vice versa. So in this case, Adelaide caused the pregnancies. Eventually she realized she didn't have to be tethered anymore, and then taught the rest how to not be either? IDK that seems to be what happened at least. It kind of gets all plot holey when you really think about it lol.

It should be mentioned that Captain Rhodes in "Day of the Dead" only killed dr. Logan AFTER he found out the doctor was chopping up his friends andfeeding them to zombies as treats! Rhodes was an asshole, but I was NOT on Bub's side for killing him, as his execution of Logan was 100 % justified!! It should also be noted that every character in that movie had some degree of psychological trauma and mental health issues, not just Rhodes. Who wouldn't when in a situation like they are, in that film!! A MASTER CLASS in filmmaking by a true genius George Romero. I couldn't recommend the movie enough to any who haven't seen it!!

Natre's one of the most respectable ghost-villain-victim in the horror movie genre Don't understand why other ghosts have to take revenge on those who've done nothing wrong to them. Heck, if Sadako shows up on my screen, Imma beat her ass back to the well.

Carrie was NOT the villain in her story. The villains were her mother and the school bullies. I don’t mind that she ended up killing everyone in the last scene as the whole point is that she was pushed mercilessly until she snapped. Just because her tormentors were ignorant to the fact that she was powerful doesn’t erase everything they put her through. Also she was completely alone and the other lesson here is about compliance. No one in that school other than the gym teacher was innocent absolutely no one. How many people ran to her defense during the prom scene. That’s right, no one.

The Natre movie reminds me of another movie with a similar plot. A couple of Americans were promoted to an Asian country (I think it was Japan) but the woman started to be haunted by a dead woman. Later on, her husband's male colleagues started dying one by one. In the end, it was revealed that the dead ghost had it in for the husband and male colleagues raped her one night and drove her to suicide. The woman got to go freely but the husband chose to kill himself by electrocution, but failed and is now hospitalized, lobotomized and the dead ghost is now latching onto him forever.

I will always love Rob Zlmbies Halloween remake that was the first time I found Michale Myers scary . Before he was just so 80s and only because of stupid characters and plot powers was he even a threat …Zombie just made a big hulking beast of a man using his strength and aggression to over power people idk about sympathetic but definitely a more believable.

Girl from Shutter is far from a villain imho. She was raped and they kept pictures of it to silence her. Then she killed herself and returned as a vengeful ghost. That aside though the best thing in the movie is the actual impact you can see with the doctors. Nobody sees anything wrong but his shoulders start to hurt and the scale is way up once he steps on it due to her being on him. I really love that movie's plot, is a nice break from the usual slaughtering.

Freddy was also an act of revenge. Freddy Kruger is killing the kids of the people who killed him. Admittedly they were right be seeing red, but by burning him in that furnace they gave him a reason to come back.

"Shutter" is not Japanese is from Thailand, I remember watching the original version first & then a couple of years later the US version that utterly sucked, if you want a good horror movie that is actually interesting & gives you a good scare you gotta look into Asian horror movies ( I have seen movies from Japan, South Korea & Thailand & they are pretty good).

Just want to stress that Carrie is a victim but she is also a villain. While she suffered horribly her whole life, she killed people who had nothing to do with her torment (depending on the version of course). Yes it was from a build up of abuse and during a manic episode but she is still responsible for her actions. This is a sad mirror to real life victims who become abusers and while they are sympathetic it doesn't change the fact that their actions to people not involved are not justified. Victims can still be villains. Villains can start as victims. They are not exclusive.

A horror movie villian you could mention in the next part if you do a part 2 is Mr Lee from Don't Hang Up he lost his wife and daughter after some boys prank called his wife and the boys told her that there was a intruder in the house and the wife shot her daugther thinking she was the intruder she felt guilty and shot herself which caused Mr Lee to get his revenge on the boys who did the prank

4:04 Actually, revenge is extremely rarely just. There is a reason why justice systems exist and why it's never the victim who chooses the punishment of the offender but an independent and ideally unbiased judge making an informed and rational decision. Revenge is 100% emotional and thereby usually the opposite of true justice.
@harrybray8269

Carrie isn’t a villian she’s the titular character and victim through 80% of the film The thing is that anyone with bs magic powers that went through what she did would probably do the exact same thing. People lash out like rabid dogs when you back them into corners. Only natural
