Thank you for posting this video! 😁 I love this topic because much like you, I cannot wrap my head around why some plants are so expensive, especially the mostly green "rare" plants. While I do not believe in price shaming sellers, nor do I believe in telling people how to spend their money, I do believe there is a limit to what is "fair" to charge for houseplants. In my opinion, there is no reason why a 6 inch (or smaller) potted plant should cost as much as 50 Nintendo Switches, a brand new car like a Honda Civic, or a year of College depending on where you live. When you put it into a perspective like this, it seems crazy, but some people are fine with paying 20,000 dollars for a tissue cultured Monstera. I'm just hoping the super high prices for the rare plants don't encourage hobbyists to start overcharging for common plants.

When you receive a plant from the mail, is it okay to gently turn the pot upside down, remove the plant slowly to check the root system? Just to make sure that you know what you are dealing with. I promise to always be as terrible as I am currently. I never hold the door open for old people and always leave my shopping cart in the middle of the store parking lot.

My heart dropped when you said $2 worth of string of turtles... here in New Zealand that plant would go for $200 easily 😭

OMG, I bought two stems of global green pothos a few months ago, and they were so big I cut them up and I have about 6 plants ready to pot. I paid 12 bucks, free shipping, and I just looked at how the prices have shot up while watching your video, ridiculous! I wanted them because I thought it would be fun to have all the different kinds of pothos, I also bought a manjula which I believe was 10 bucks. I would NEVER pay the prices they are asking now. I am in my 60's and have been gardening for a looooong time, first seed I planted was basil in my mom's kitchen and it got huge! LOL I've NEVER seen such hype about plants in all these years. If people pay the prices, they will stay up, don't they realize that???? Anyway, I would like a dupe video because I would love to find a large leaf, velvety plant and there are so many out there, but again, I refuse to pay a ton of money. BUT, if you want to splurge and buy yourself that certain plant you want, once in a while, no problem, like anything else. Just use common sense. I also just started watching your videos and I find your sense of humor so dry!! And when it comes to plants, you certainly know your stuff!! Thanks!

Completely agree about Hoya Lisa, Whenever I think of ordering one I just look at my Krimson Princess and think.. why? Krimson Princess is just as pretty and a fraction of the cost.

This is exactly why I stay on FB marketplace. I refuse to pay those ridiculous prices. My patience is usually rewarded with someone selling one of those plants for cheap! Except PPP which is gnarly looking and I'll never buy anyway

Hi. Thank you for your refreshing update on plants and how crazy the prices have become. I like getting smaller plants and watching them grow. I can not buy them if they are very expensive. I have not bought any plants online. I prefer getting them locally. I am hoping to find a few I’m looking for in the spring. I live in California. Loved the video. Thank you again.

I came across this video as a suggested because I follow others and as soon as I started watching I was like... “SUBSCRIBE.” Your sense of humor kills me, and the fact that you do it with a straight face.. 💯🤣 please don’t change! I just got to the part “smoke weed every daaay.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I just died.

Sometimes I really like the look of a rare plant...and sometimes I like the dupe more! For example, I really like the look of the philodendron spirits sancti....well I love the philodendron atabapoense more! With the dark red/purple back...love it.

I'm so happy to say that I just bought a hoya lisa with 4 not so small plants in one pot for 7 euros in a shop. It sure is nice to see prices coming down on former hot trend plants.

PSYCHOLOGY TIME - 😂 seems like the most part of this clip qualifies for this. "my full name is.... House Plant". 😂 Full on identity crisis. (Happens here all the time, too, with the labelling... ) On a side note: not only your editing skills are on fire - also your style is *on point*! The H. serpens I have is even tinier than yours. 😱

Omg Please make a dupes video!!! I'm way more attracted to a specific plant because of of its characteristics rather than it's supposed rarity and I know I'm not alone in that. Don't get me wrong rare plants are cool but i'd much rather get a plant I really love with similar features to that's $20 and then I can get even more joy out of the plant knowing I got it for a bargain. That's my ultimate goal, amazing, beautiful and healthy plants at a low cost, then it feels like a super win!!
