Since I can remember Ive slept about 4 hours on average. No naps or anything either. The past few years I’ve noticed I’m sleeping even less now. 3 hours is typical but sometimes it’s just 2 hours. I’m energetic. I’m at a healthy weight. I have no health issues. I’m not tired. I have a better memory than almost everyone I know, I’m in a pleasant mood and I have no problem focusing or getting tasks done. I work full time, have a 9 yr old daughter, paints for hours at night when everyone is asleep, have 2 very energetic dogs, workout every other day, do yoga every night, drive on average 60-70 miles a day (and have never been in an accident or fallen asleep at the wheel or at my desk) I just don’t need the amount of sleep that most people do. I go to bed at 3a and I’m up at 6a to start my day. I’m 47 yrs old and I’m able to accomplish so much because of my sleep (or lack there of). It just works for me and I’m tired in laying in bed for hours wide awake because I don’t want people to think I’m on “something “ if they see me washing the car at midnight 😂

I've done multiple of experiments of sleep. No sleep: Absolutely horrible. The first few hours was fine and I still felt okay. When it was around 1pm whenever i blinked i just wanted to close my eyes for longer but i couldnt because i was in class. I was really moody and I was too tired to have a conversation. When i got home, I felt a tad bit better but really dizzy. 12 hours: I went to bed at 8pm snd woke up at 7am. Surprisingly, when I woke up I felt tired. Throughout the day I had a headache and a backache. When I came home, I felt okay but still had a headache. 4 hours of sleep: I went to bed at 1:30am and woke up at 5:30am. I still felt a bit tired but managed to get out of bed. I had some coffee and had a good morning routine. When I got to school, I felt fresh and great. I was more smarter academically and I put effort into the work. When I got home I mostly just did normal stuff and it was quite good.

Yep, I've been experimenting for a while now and simply not consistent. But when I try to adjust back to solid 7-8 hours sleep, I'm told the reason is because of cat naps, like that's the problem, not the remedy. I try to shut down and time myself for up to 30 min nap, if tired (less sleep at night) but sometimes go an hour, perpetuating the short nights. Sometimes, I'll just dose off very briefly when reading or at computer, but it's enough, just was thinking it was embarrassing like I'm some old guy. I stopped drinking coffee but it hasn't really changed anything other than I think my sleep now is deeper, probably requiring less, vs. just short but needing more. I also don't get a mandatory late afternoon crash, whether I slept well or not.

Very interesting. I find 6.5hr sleep works well for me - an early(ish) night with an early morning - I've always been a "lark" as long as I can remember. Whereas my parents and my sister are most definitely night owls, with not going to bed until 0100/0200, and getting up around 0900 being the norm for them. The "Night Owl" gene obviously skipped me somehow! :-D

@Janice Brown lol.. it's 1:40pm on Sunday afternoon and saw I typed this 14 hours ago so it was probably around 10:30 before I went to bed. Woke up with my alarm at 6:30. Ignored it because it was Sunday. Fell back to sleep. Wanted to go to church at 9... Didn't wake up until 8:55. 😯. I'm fortunate because church is right across the street. And for now, that's where the Lord wants me to make sure I get there, even if it's straight out of bed.. because He knows how I am ✝️🙏❣️

@Janice Brown yep. Me too. ✝️🙏❣️. I moved where I live now 2 years this May 2020. My car of many years went caput at the same time. So I'm on SSD and have been without a car but for the lemon I got and had for 5 months from July til this past December. Anyhow I moved 12 miles away from anything I was familiar with because that's where subsided housing landed me. Just finally started going to church regularly in the process of switching from Catholicism which I spent 20 years+ drifting away from because I wasn't feeling it in my heart and towards just Christianity. Christian Bible Church. To make a long story short, I was in such disarray that I was learning so much so fast and finally fully understanding Jesus saved us by dying on the Cross. If you believe you're saved from hell eternal not what I was taught in Catholic school k-8, you have to try to be good and not you go to hell, that the church I learned so much from was 12 miles away and wanted to keep learning. So much so that the joy of having ADHD is you're always rushing to get some place because you were distracted.. well I was so distracted I didn't realize walking back and forth finding stores, doing laundry, etc. That I walked across the street and back and forth and completely missed the fact that a Christian Bible Church was right across the street from me. So on June 26, 2018, I went in said where I went before. The pastors knew each other. I said I get the basics but want to grow in my faith and was eventually officially baptized... At the church across the street on Sunday, November 18, 2018. I go most Sundays but sometimes rest/ sleep comes first.

I stay up in 48 hour intervals, then sleep 6-8 hours. Been doing this since high school. I’m 36 years old now. I’ve tried to sleep like normal people, but it doesn’t work. I’m in great shape, doctors always give me a good bill of health. What’s weird is that I perform better on less sleep. I know it’s counter intuitive & all the science says otherwise. I realize that, & I purposely put the possible lack of cognitive function in my brain’s algorithmic equation. I’ve trained my brain to drop all the non essential process & narrow it down to key functions when I lack sleep. Basically I don’t multi task when I lack sleep, & I’m more efficient for doing so.

How do you feel 20-40 hrs into each cycle? Are you happy and energetic?
@YourDadVR
3 жыл бұрын
@@Brother_Lew The 17-24 hour period is my favorite time, it’s uninterrupted time because everyone is sleeping. I feel happy & energized knowing I can work on things without interruption. The multitasking functions in my brain begin to shut down, so I’m forced to hyper focus on 1 thing at a time, I get a 1 track mind. The 36-40 hour period is weird. I’m beginning to crash, so I feel weak, scatter brained, & I begin to have dreams while I’m awake. I try to stay home in that period. The last 8 hour period I get a second wind & my body revs up. Occasionally I crash during that last 8 hours. It just depends on how physical I was in the prior days. I don’t recommend anyone do this. I can do it because I’ve adapted to it over many years. I had to stop doing this in August of this year because I took sole custody of my children. Im a single father with a full time job, & sole custody, so I have to multitask every day now. For the first time in my life I’m sleeping like a normal person.
