Letting go of a few things is essential every once in a while to become our best selves and live a life of fulfillment. Here are 10 things you need to let go of before it’s too late.
1. Worry - worrying about the future or dwelling on the past is what we do everyday instead of living in today. We need to focus on our todays to make them a memorable past and a strong foundation for our future which we dream about.
2. Trying to please everyone- we live to please people around us, seeking the approval of others even if it’s something that does not align with our own values and principles. So its time to reflect on this quality, and understand what your priorities for your life are and start working on them! Instead of prioritising others’ expectations of you.
3. Constant comparison with others- we live in a society and time where comparison is inevitable- even if we want to we can't escape this constant comparison loops on social media, family, friends ! its high time to reflect on this and compete only with yourself, and become your best self!
4. Perfection is a myth- trying to be perfect and expecting people around you to be perfect is only going to make you dissatisfied with your life, coz lets face it no one is a 100% perfect- some people are good at something while some people are good at some other thing learn to accept that you can't be good at everything! And we are not here to be perfect but to learn and experience life as it comes!
5. Holding grudges- i had an english professor who said that when you try to frown your face uses a lot of muscles than when you smile, same way when you hold grudges you are using space in your brain for unimportant things and people who will not matter a few years down the lane. So learn to forgive and forget not because they deserve forgiveness but because you deserve peace! I will also add that forget the people but remember the lesson for life!
6.Saying i can’t- we tend to avoid things saying that we can or we cant even before trying them! In reality sometimes when we try something being doubtful we might actually like it and be good at it! So don't decide anything too early, keep an open mind to try things out before deciding whether you can or you can’t!
7. Self doubt- the biggest critic we have in our life is us. we are enough to talk ourselves out of things and play it safe, stop being too self critical and stop self doubt to hold you back from things you are supposed to do!
8. Trying to control everything- the only thing we can control is how we look at things ! We cannot control people, circumstances or anything. So give up the need to control everything and be open to embracing life, people and situations as they come! Because when we expect too much, we will be disappointed too much too! This is the time to stop being a control freak and trying to control everything!
9. Keeping your feelings / emotions bottled up- sometimes we just bottle up our emotions and feelings thinking that they will go away with time, except that they become big problems later on. So it is essential to let out the bottled up emotions or feelings through mediation, journaling or talking to someone before it is too late. Emotional baggage is much heavier than we think and can have very serious consequences so it's time to let out all the anger, frustration, love or hate once and for all and have letting out rituals in place at regular intervals for better life!
10. Holding on to relationships/ people that weigh you down- there is nothing more heavy than a negative friend or a person! Toxic people, negative people introduce you to new fears that you don't have, will limit you in ways you never thought of and will make you lose track of who you really are! So before we start to change our life or begin a new year , its critical that we get rid of negativity from our life!
