I am a huge fan that lives in the sovereign nation of Taiwan and we love you here. b.For some reason “truffle oil” is a thing here and they spray it with a garden hose on everything. Personally it makes me barf, and I wondered why, This is what I discovered: Most truffle oil available on the market is not made from actual truffles. Instead, it's typically made using a synthetic compound called 2,4-dithiapentane that mimics the aroma of real truffles. This chemical is added to a base oil, such as olive oil, to give it a truffle-like flavor.

For any potential visitors of London, some excellent food markets you're better off visiting include: - Bloomsbury Farmers' Market (open on Thursdays only, 9am-2pm); - Greenwich Market; - Portobello Road Market. Please save yourself the headache of too many tourists and overpriced food at Borough Market (not to mention the inflated prices... that fish and chips was CRIMINAL). Please visit markets recommended by locals that give much better value for money!

British food is all kinds of beige and brown but I kinda like it. It ain't pretentious like French food lol. An English breakfast after a hangover feels heavenly not gonna lie

As an African from a British colonised country who has a tumultuous relationshi with France, I appreciate British food for what it is. Solid food. It's comforting, it's simple, it fills you up and (for the most part) it's fairly tasty. But (other than a full English breakfast or a proper fresh sausage roll) it's not food I'd leave my house to eat. Like, I'll make a shephard's pie or beef wellington at home but I'd never go out and spend money on them. I think that's where French cuisine wins. I agree that a lot of NEWER French, Michelin restaurant type food is pretentious as hell but you can't beat the flavour profiles/combinations of some of the traditional classics, e.g coq au vin, duck l'orange, quiche lorraine, escargot etc.

@@ItsBeeRay I completely agree. I was just ribbing on the French. Usually its British cuisine which is made fun of (and rightfully so in most cases). I mean it is no coincidence that French Cuisine and french method of cooking is the numero uno when it comes to fine dining. Although, in recent years, I feel like it has lost its dynamism and vibrancy which is being compensated by new advents in the South Asian and South East Asian cuisines.

You're the first foodie to buy, and review Halibut Fish & Chips! Believe it or not, Van De Kamp's frozen food had frozen, deep fried halibut in the grocery store back in the day, and it was delish! Every time I've had Fish & Chips since, Van De Kamp's was the pinnacle of comparison, and I've never had anything as good. If anyone reading this ever gets a chance to try Halibut, especially deep fried in batter, do so, you won't regret it! - On to the scallops, I worked as a cook at Bob's Big Boy back in the 70's, and they had deep fried scallops. Working there, I'd make myself a plateful of these delicious morsels. I've never seen deep fried, breaded scallops anywhere else, and have no idea why as they are delicious. Anywhere that sells fish & chips should also sell deep fried scallops, but they don't?😅👍✌🗽

As someone who lives in England and is close to London, I can tell you that it costs £15 congestion to enter London by car, and to park for two hours can cost you £30+ if you find a reasonable place. If your choice of transport is a taxi, kiss that £100 gone in 10 minutes. A train will cost you about £40. In central London, the pedestrian paths are very narrow, and you’ll find yourself crammed like a tin of anchovies. To top it off, a meal can cost you £80 for two people without alcohol, and the same meal is bland and horrible. Avoid London and enjoy your money in Asia, where the food is cheap, or Europe, where the alcohol and food are more affordable. Unlike Singapore, which demonstrates why it may be expensive, London's prices do not. You will leave sad and hungry and pondering life, wondering why you decided to go to London. :)
@katshaw1626

The only logical reason to drive throughout the congestion zone is if you have disabilities, if you have disabilities, you get a congestion charging exemption, you literally pay £10. A £40 train can get you from london to the south west easily, if youre traveling from just outside of london, its more likely to cost you £10-£15, or £30 if you want an unlimited travel card for the entirety of london. a meal may cost you £80 if you go to a dedicated restaurant, if you go to any cafe or fast food or generally not touristy aream it's all pretty reasonable really, the only thing that gets expensive really is alcohol, at an average of about £6 a pint its a couple £'s more than outside of london. Finally, food is food in all countries, if you get mcdonalds you know the quality its going to be, and there are plenty of places that are dumps, but there are actually a lot more that use the highest quality ingredients they can source from within the UK, leading to high quality food and good taste. Basically I dont know who hurt you... but youre just wrong :')

@@katshaw1626 😅😅Hold on a second. Your defence for the £15 congestion charge is that if you’re disabled, you still have to pay £10. That’s still ridiculous. There’s nothing logical about that. You really believe £5 makes a difference 😅😅. I can assure you that being disabled doesn’t get you off of the parking charges! I live in Haywards Heath. The train costs between £40-£50 to Victoria. Adding underground charges that can cost a further £7 depending on where in London I want to go. People don’t go to London to eat so-so food like McDonald’s. I wouldn’t go as far as calling that food. People go for an experience and to eat a decent meal. That so-called decent meal that has everyone excited is the one that’s extortionate in price and sucks. On the off-chance that you find a reasonably priced restaurant. It’s England, the food is still crap. It’s extremely rare to find nice food these days. Where the price = quality. If you have some recommendations, please drop them below. I’ll be happy to check them out, and then I’ll know whether you’re just making a pointless defence. Although, like your logic, I presume your tastebuds don’t work either.

@@JustBaileey I obviously didnt explain well enough, the exemption is for electric cars and disabled cars at the moment, although that is changing next year to not including electric cars, you pay £10 and you are exempt until the end of 2025, its not £10 every time, its once.... Also parking when disabled is easy anyway because you get 3 hours free when you display your badge We live in the woking area, so definitely closer than you, but it costs us £15 to get into waterloo, then we can walk wherever we want to go usually, and thats without things like travel cards and additional money off. What do you want recommendations for, and where do you typically go? I can provide a couple things, we dont usually go into high end restaurants like bluebirds or brasseries, but have been to a couple really nice steakhouses, and obviously indians, chineses, pubs, fish and chip places.
@JustBaileey

@@katshaw1626 Wow, I assume that it would be £10 per year for disabled people. That’s pretty decent, but as far as I know, I’m not mentally disabled, or if I am, people around me haven’t told me I am to be kind, lol. I’m certainly not physically disabled. I drive a hybrid, so I’m exempt from the rule. If what you say is true regarding electric cars, and they’re taking away the perk of having an electric car in London, then they should reconsider their reasoning for ‘congestion’. Part of their claim for charging is due to noise and air pollution, but electric cars don’t produce either! Moreover, taking that perk away removes one of the pluses of owning one, lol. Waterloo is certainly closer, but what you save in travel, I’m certain you pay in rent or mortgage. Living so close to London can’t be cheap. Well, I enjoy Thai and Indonesian food, but if I’m being honest, having travelled to Thailand a lot, the Thai food here is not the same, and food reviewers who claim it’s fantastic are lying or have never tasted the real thing. That’s also true for Chinese food. In all honesty, I believe when you’ve been fortunate to travel to origin countries and know the actual value, quality and taste of specific cuisines. You can make a fair comparison and know if what you’re getting is a fair deal, but when it comes to the U.K., it’s not. One example: authentic tofu in Indonesia, because you have to be careful, can cost £1.20 for like a kg of tofu, but in the U.K., in a restaurant, you can pay £15 for 150g of tofu 😅. I hate high-end restaurants, too. I went to that speedboat Thai restaurant in Chinatown because I had heard good things, but the Thai tea was extremely watered down and looked like a child’s drink with these stupid sprinkles on top. I left hungry and paid £80 for it. But anyway, I’m just venting at this point.
