I remember watching that game. So frustrating. Our tackling was horrendous most of the game. In typical Houston Nutt fashion we waited until we were down by 4 TDs in the fourth quarter to finally play some football. And then of course the call on Bua was absolutely heartbreaking. I have no doubt in mind that if that call isn't made, we have the ball and all the momentum in the world and we go score the game-winner.

I honestly don't know which call is worse: A) Roughing the passer on Tony Bua or B) Unnecessary roughness on Malcolm Sheppard. Both were complete hosings by the officiating crew. Ridiculous.
@jamieg9371

Easily the Malcolm Sheppard call was the worse of the two as far as just the call itself. The Bua hit was borderline at best while the call on Sheppard was just total incompetence of the ref. He didn't even see the play. He just saw the player who tried to hit Sheppard on the ground and made a stupid assumption. Having said that, the call on Bua probably impacted the game more. It, in effect, ended the game. The Hogs would've had the ball near midfield with all the momentum and plenty of time to score. Both were awful calls. The one against Sheppard was one of many calls in that game that aided the Gators win. The refs were so bad in that one, the SEC actually suspended them for two weeks.

The officials gave this game to Florida on the final play that roughing the passer penalty by Arkansas cost them the football game

Don't forget that in the first quarter, an official call had gone Arky's way. The interception at 2:25 of the video. The first official says uncomplete pass for Florida, and then that same Penn Wagers says interception for Arkansas. And Tony Bua was already the first player involved. On the other hand, in Bua's defense, his controversial hit on Florida's QB in the last quarter was not out of bounds. Look again at 12:20. Nowadays, who doesn't prefer video officiating? 😉

The first of two horrendous calls by officials in games versus Florida that adversely affected the game in favor of the Gators. The next, and most egregious, would come in 2009. Yet another game that the Hogs should have won.

That bad call was on a 1st down play while the Gators were in the red zone, was probably gonna score on that drive regardless, so quit crying... But if you wanna make excuses I can too, if not for the 4 TOs and the dropped TD pass by Cooper the Gators win that game comfortably.

My dad, brother and I were at this game and we left after the Sorahan interception in the 4th. We were listening on the radio on the way home and we made it back just in time to turn on the TV for that horrible call against Bua. Brutal end to one of the most amazing 4th quarters of Razorback football in my lifetime.

I was at this game too. Terrible call at the end ruined what could've been one of the greatest comebacks in NCAA history. Down by 26 with less than 9 minutes to go. No guarantee that the Hogs score at the end without that call, but I sure liked their chances.

@@ravenking1822 going hi isn't a penalty in and of itself,contact with the helme/ has to be made and it wasnt, especially since he was just starting to slide which was lowering himself making it appear like Bua was even going higher, which again is not a penalty. Hitting him in the helmet is. Bua lead with both his hands extended and hit him on the shoulder pads, in a very bang bang play, which is legal. So don't sit there and act like he threw the ball and was just standing around for a second and then Bua hit him...WITH HIS HANDS ON THE SHOULDDR PADS. No. But, even still, we wouldn't have been in that situation if not for Nutt being so brilliant using 2 qbs creating all those turnovers
