Is there a more beautiful scene than her praying in that chapel? Oh my gosh so powerful.

This movie hit me hard, and my family knows it. Yes, we raised Catholic, but the beauty in that scene transcends all faiths.

Sister Benedict's prayer in the chapel surely taught many people an important lesson about rising about the difficulties and injustices that we sometimes face in life. She was gracious to the very end, accepting the will of God. In the end she received the best news possible.

How I remember watching this wonderful beautiful movie with my dear dad at Christmastime. It always brought tears to me and my dad. It touches home for me as my dear wonderful uncle as a young man in Law School died of tuberculosis, he contracted as the hospital thought he had it and had pneumonia instead and they placed him in a ward with patients who did and he caught it - how sad and remembering my visits to see him but only could see him through a window. it was such hardship on my dear mom. :( My mom had to be the strongest she had so much sadness. Thank you for this beautiful touching video of yes the Bells of St. Mary's. they sure don't make nice movies as this anymore.

Yes! An underrated gem. It made us not only laugh, but shed a few tears. I adored the misty black and white of the movie. Was it the early 40's? Anyways, it's a great movie for anybody searching for their own faith.

I have seen this movie more times than I can recall. It always hits closer to home with each passing year (Catholic school alumnus 1953-1965). Those school nuns (Dominicans for me) were a unique treasure that I only realized decades later, when it was too late to thank them.

@thebackgroundartiste I am no one to say but many ,many nuns in the church answered their call as mature vocations. These were lasting commitments that bore fruition that benifited many needy souls. When God calls, the ringing never stops. He waits until the time is right and collects you into his fold to fullfill your destiny. Many orders accept mature vocations like the visitation sisters. Orders that do not are denying Gods call and are not worth looking at. Good luck with your life!

@GreenSpacebug

Hello Father, I believe what Father O'Malley in the Movie is wearing is a Polish Collar! It is a clerical collar similar to the Roman Collar, but with a more V shape. You will most likely be able to find it in many clerical/liturgical stores online by looking for a Polish Cassock.

Gods call never stops ringing. Many nuns in many orders started out as mature vocations. The visitations order accepts mature vacations, just as Jesus called mature followers as his diciples. Any order that has an age limit is not worth considering as they are denying Gods own call. So, if one day your life is ready to answer, remember, it,s God who decides. Not a puritan rule that excludes candidates of God,s choice. Good luck with your travels!

In other words, the reciter doesn't deceive the listener, (as in the case of a liar), they deceive themselves. Morality that does skirt around the edges admittedly, but is distinguised from outright dishonesty, in the minds of its proponents.
