They have an appreciation for the genre by now 😊 Totally avoided both the home invasion and torture-y genes, as you did.

This is a great list. I need to check out some of these I haven’t seen, but I love all of these movies. However TCM is probably the scariest horror film I’ve seen, so I don’t know if I would recommend that the beginners. I need to watch Prince of Darkness, and I still haven’t seen Suspiria (or Tenebrae) despite having seen all of Argento’s other 70s and 80s horror films. Although I would say Friday the 13th Part 6 is also a great point to start as I’ve shown it to people at 100% success rate in their enjoyability. I still need to test it on my dad who thinks that Friday the 13th sucks, so we will see how full proof it is. Halloween is also a recommendation, but I have seen people call it boring so Nightmare on Elm Street might be a better call.
