Pamela Earl Hi Pamela and Thank you! Working with hot air is difficult. The paint will dry very Quick so that nothing I will recommend. I never use it myself, instead I have a heatgun with cool setting that I use witch works great for me. You don’t need both silicone and oil. The coconutoil will give plenty of effect. Much luck to you! Play, explore and have fun with it!

Hi Kristin, I have a couple of questions please... I am an abstract painter and of course love painting! When I discovered this pouring technique it really interested me. I have tried and tried to get good results and can't seem to get any of the pours to look anything like what i see you or others making. I know a lot of people will say its a lot to do with the thickness of the paint mix. What do you use for a medium, if any? Do you use acrylic paint? What is the secret, lol? THANKS!!!! If anyone else wants to chime in, please do.
@KristinOSteen

Hello Matt and Thank you for watching! Yes, I work with acrylics. I mix my paint with equal or double amount Floetrol. Then I add just a little water till I get the consistance that I want for the teqnique I will be using. The paint needs to have a nice flow. There are no secrets really..I think everyone just needs to find their mix and ways to it. Even if it seems we are doing exactly the same way the resaults are always different. Not possible to copy this😃 I wish you luck and hope you find your way, as its a completely fun art, the fluid Painting!

Hello and Thank you so much! Actually, mostly the only thing I use as a guide is what Colors I want next to each other on the canvas. AND also if I want the light or the dark n the middle. So, normally I do not think much about the heavy/not heavy Colors. Some Colors will make a new color When they meet, so a color wheelmis a good help. ☀️

How many paints do you add silicone to? What is your ratio to paint & poring medium? Reason for my asking is I bought everything that everyone uses to make cells & I cannot get my paintings to produce large cells like everyone else gets. Just wondering what I'm doing wrong?? Please Help if you can.. Thank you for reading my comment.

Hello Jennifer! There is no silicone in this Painting. The cells comes from the Floetrol combined with my rather thin mix. I do not work with silicone very often so I’m no master of the secrets behind those cells. But if you look up Gina De Luca she can show you great cells without using silicone. Also if you want to work with silicone I can recommend Michaela Studio13. She gets plenty of big cells

The pattern in this piece reminds me of a "Gryphea" - a type of fossil .. a memory of what I loved doing as a hobby in my childhood. Would love that piece on my wall for that reason. Another lovely unique acrylic artwork.

It really pendant on how you are working. Such as if you want to stretch the paint or not. But I would say about 4 dl for this

You only use Floetrol and acrylic paint with some water if needed right?
@KristinOSteen

Mia Maximo yes that’s right. In some of my early work there can be silicone in them, but I try to avoid that now

Hi Kristin, I'm back... How much paint do I need for a 10x10 canvas? 1 part Paint and 2 part Ploetrol right? No silicon spray needed, right?
