My sister in law was hit by a car at the exact same age, right in front of her house. Today, she is in nursing school and a mom to three. Her brain was swelling, and the removed the piece of her skull, she couldn’t talk, eat or walk. Once they put the skull piece back in after letting the brain swell she began recovering. I hope this young man can make a similar recovery

You can tell she's the woman of the house. When you take that responsiblity theirs no time to cry and show weakness. She has to be strong for her family. Believe me she is torn up inside. Once she's by herself she will start balling her eyes out and there's no stopping the water works. It happens to all of us unfortunately, but with the grace of god we all get through this. A "short" delay is 24-48 hours. This was a long delay of over 120 hours with numerous contacts with and inaccurate information (juvenile vs adult) from responding agencies. I hope the family follows thru with a formal complaint and legal remedies if warranted. If the two neighboring jurisdictions can collaborate and cross lines to catch a criminal, they could have "solved" this case promptly.

I watched Nathan's story on January 14th. Afterwards, I was moved by it that I told my family about him and we included him in our family prayers. The next day my 12 year old daughter and her best friend was walking down the street and was hit by a man high on meth and driving a stole work truck. My daughter died instantly. Her best friend survived with minor injuries, thankfully. I will continue to pray for Nathan's recovery and the family.

Oh my goodness…. Im extraordinarily sorry for your loss… I can’t imagine the pain as a mother. So many times the insensitivity of people and their own darkness, evil, and addictions affect the lives of those who were innocent. No mother should ever go through that pain and I’m so sorry your family had to get involved. Just know I pray your family and you stay strong and can emotionally recover because I know it isn’t easy. I know this may be controversial but don’t fall into hatred for whoever hurt your daughter, it will only drown your emotions and mental wellbeing more. No they aren’t innocent or good for what they did, but don’t stay bitter in life. I bet your daughter would’ve wanted her momma to be happy in the long run, and wherever she is now I am glad she isn’t suffering. Many hugs to you and my condolences, I wish I could give out help to your family, but just know I am rooting for all of you to heal over time. ❤

I desperately want the family and especially Nathan to understand that even if he never walks and/or talks again, he can still lead a long, meaningful, fulfilling life. I went to bed a relatively healthy person on Halloween 2018 and I woke up November 1st 2018 monoplegic. I couldn't feel or use my right leg. I still don't have full use, and I probably never will, but I have a loving and supportive family and that's the most important thing to have when you're suddenly disabled. I can personally assure you a wheelchair is NOT the obstacle people make it out to be. This kid has so many people in his corner and I just know that whatever he does or doesn't regain, he'll still be the incredible young man his family know him to be
