In all honesty you don't "NEED" 7800X3D. Like, unless you're trying to get 900fps in 1080p in Valorant, 7500F will do just fine in just about any game except for Factorio that just LOVES the 3D cache... no reason to overpay for 7800X3D right now, get into AM5 on a budget and then upgrade to 11800X3D or whatever the last CPU for this platform is gonna be down the line for, hopefully, noticeable performance boost. These are available for just above 1/3rd of the price of 7800X3D with the caveat of ordering straight from China... (I mean these are CPUs for OEM manufacturers, it's basically 7600 without iGPU) For reference I have 7500F, 7700X and 7950X3D as of right now across my machines. 7500F lives in 3L case with low profile 4060 from Gigabyte :3

Wendell of Level1Tech is stating (KZitem vid) that intel 13 & 14 series cpus (only top cpus confirmed) are showing signs of high level degredation/failure. Looked specifically at gaming servers and found a high number of failing cpus. Wendell says possible 50% failure rate with a possible 50% of those cpus (so 25% total) probably partially fixed via future bios updates but the other 50% (25% of the total cpus) being complete failures. Both Gamers Nexus & Wendell tend to indicate Intel unable to track down the problem as its too random and so are unable to accurately solve the problem ifs its possible - the advice is give Intel a full miss until the problems solved

I’m checking Prime DAY and I’ve seen some interesting sales on GPUS The PowerColor RX 6750XT fighter 12GB is going for $300 right now. I believe it’s a good deal for entry level 1440p gaming and will last a couple years before having to mess with settings. Also the PowerColor 7800XT Red Devil 16GB is on sale for $476. I believe this is a good price for it and will last at least 5 years in 1440p before having to mess with settings. Additionally there is also the ASUS Dual 3060 12GB going for $270 which is meh. Yeah it cheaper than 6750XT but it is well worth the extra $30 to get something much faster, but then if you value Nivdia then that’s the GPU for you and will last a couple years. Also there is the Gigabyte Aero OC RTX 4070 12GB going for $509 right now. I believe this is too much money for a 12GB GPU but you do get Nivdia features if you value them

People aren't sleeping on it but they can't justify it with overabundance of 2nd hand 6600XT, 6700XT, 3060Ti and 3070s on the second-hand market right now. Card with problems vs cards without problems at similar price and notably better performance. The choice is obvious. I have A770 16GB (Acer Bifrost) but it's more of a collectible than a functional product for me... maybe one day it will be Blender rendering beast but for the time being even at heavily discounted down to 229 recently it's just not great. Also, the only game that I wanted to play on it up to this day has framepacing issues and atrocious 1% lows (Hunt: Showdown). Also keep in mind these cards outside of US not only have abysmal availability, they're also priced stupid. A770 was selling 320eur at the lowest for the longest time...

For the $750 budget the ram sticks that are in the list are slightly bigger then what the case has for clearance. The ram size is 38.5mm and the clearance is UP TO 38mm. Even though its a small margin it probably isn't a good idea to get that specific ram. A good alternative is the teamgroup t-force vulcan z 32gb 2x16gb ddr4 3200mhz c16. It has the same specs for $50.99 before any deals. No rgb however.

I think you're confused. Are you talking about the cooler's RAM clearance? This cooler isn't going to overhang the RAM, and even if it did, you'd just move the fan up a tiny bit. There is nothing in the PC case that will impact the RAM. We did this exact build during our Best Budget Gaming PC 2024 video so check that out for more information. Hope that helps!

Case has no RAM clearance... CPU cooler might IF it overhangs the memory - pretty much all CPUs talked about in this video don't need anything beyond stock cooler. If you have enough height available in your case, just go Arctic Freezer 36 (it's top tier performance) for 20eur or whatever it costs in freedom units. The next best thing for the money is Thermalright Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit but they are MASSIVE.

At $90 you might pay few bucks more and get one of those bad boys straight from China instead and not get locked yourself into a dead-end platform with no viable upgrade paths (especially now that we hear about all those Intel issues at 13th and 14th gen CPUs...). One can make point for video editing specifically but beyond that isolated use-case, I would avoid Intel until 15th gen.

@@maddad4767 I would avoid Bifrost... if it's anything like on my A770 it's just goddamn awful cooling performance and is noisy. With AsRock go Steel Legend or Phantom Gaming. From the $750 build, which GPU is better suited? 6800 for $349.99 or 7700 XT for $399.99? Just for gaming and thinking long term, considering Polaris is no longer supported by AMD (judging by the drivers)

I think the advice is sound....except for AMD. I think the advice should be to wait on anything AMD until Zen 5 is out AND has some major testing behind it. I don't buy "independent testers have looked at it" Tech Spot or wherever. Unless the tests are coming from tried and true sources like GN and HUB, they don't hold any weight for me! You made an assertion about what the 9000 series "could" be and that isn't tested yet. As for Intel, it would seem the prudent advice is to suggest all of Alder Lake and only the lower chips from Raptor and RLR. I think Intel doesn't want to admit that A: They pushed that 10nm node TOO far and B: The issue is most likely pushing WAY too much power into the system to make those higher clocks on the 13900 and 14900K chips. At least Arrow Lake is being put on a sold TSMC node and that will help and I am waiting to see how Battlemage turns out. Good stuff though!
@PCBuilderChannel

Oh I agree! Grain of salt on anything until 3rd party testing is out. My argument for the 7600 and 7800X3D are taking into account the new CPUs launching though. The 7600 is cheap enough compared to what we suspect the prices on the new CPUs will be that is a great time to bring more budget builders into AM5, and the 7800X3D is very likely to remain the most powerful for a long time to come. That being said if people do want to wait I want them to be able to take advantage of the current sales too so I give my recommendations for that. But I wouldn't buy any other AM5 CPU right now!

hey, great video as always! This is my go-to channel for building my first gaming pc :) a quick question - do you have any data how much were the discounts on last year's prime days (both USD/EUR-wise and percent-wise)? I've reviewed the Newegg sales (for my own interest, as I am from Europe) and besides some exceptions, they don't seem so significant - e.g. GPUs dropping just by 20 USD, etc. Is this the expected result of what we can expect tomorrow on Prime day?

Well maybe you should think about why you buy Intel and Nvidia in the first place? Perfectly understandable if you need their benefits for certain software (like I have an Intel cpu and gpu because of content creation) but if you're just using your pc for gaming, daily tasks, and aren't going for the absolute best gpu, AMD would probably be the better choice... It just doesn't make sense to make content for what is generally the worse option for most people.

@@Zxanonblade you make a great point. I’m not going to argue with your logic. It makes perfect sense. I’m only asking for an Intel and NVIDIA build. It will cost more but there are people like me that haven’t gone the AMD route for whatever reasons…

@@J_Bwn I agree that seeing an Intel and Nvidia build would be nice, just not only for the sake of being Intel + nvidia. If it was featured with the intent of providing a guide for productivity focused builds that might need Nvidia or Intel, then I see a pretty good use for it.

How does the AMD 6800 compare vs the newer 7700XT with FSR and newer technologies, quality and frame rate boosts using them. 6800 beats 7700XT at stock barely, but with FSR does the Newer 7700XT have some feature that then allows it to be % more ahead of 6800 using the same FSR version?
