@@davidsellars646 This double round about in particular is at the junction of 3 roads. None of them aligned like a. typical 4 way intersection. There was at least one accident per day and traffic was always backed up everyday. It eliminated 3 stop signs, the daily accidents, and the backups. It originally had curbs protecting the center islands...those were a mistake and were eliminated. They installed wide tapered aprons with rumble grooves. It is 2 lanes throughout. I could take a 3 axle 53' lowboy with 9 1/2 wide' load, 75' long rig thru and be within 1 lane. Anything longer that that takes more than a lane wide. Rigs like on this channel typically use the southbound side to eliminate crawling into the center islands which are slightly elevated.

VHF and UHF have greater range than CB. When possible I like my lead pole car on UHF because I will send him far out in front ahead of the convoy. Our company pays for rights to 5 dedicated UHF channels. VHF is actually common radio to communicate between other trucks in Western Canada on the Ladd channels and in northern remote areas. For some remote job sites it is actually mandatory to have VHF. And of course CB to communicate with everyone who doesn’t have VHF or UHF. Also when I’m working with multiple escorts I will usually have my steer man on a separate radio. When making a critical turn or maneuver if the other escorts don’t have proper radio discipline I can simply turn them off and still communicate with the steer man.
