MinnKota Terrova is probably the best trolling motor now. It has GPS, Advance Auto-Pilot, Recording track, remote control, and foot control too. It was the best investment I have ever bought. I have it for over 1 year now with over 100+ hour on it and it's still working great.

What a great build! i had to giggle on the value of the overall completed project! However the mere thought of simply being able to build exactly what you need and the purpose its for could be priceless. you definitely gave this old aluminum hull a new life sir, good job!

You got it going on there cuzz. As a fellow Kentuckian I can appreciate the time and effort you put into great detail. Looks like you gutted an already built boat and sat it into yours, I mean the attention to detail is just awesome. In my experience I learned to hate the indoor/outdoor carpet because it was forever grabbing hooks and not letting go. But aside from that, I applaud you for a fine fishing rig. All you need now is a wife that can clean and cook your catch.

I cut holes in my bench to attach the front deck supports... I then cut some 2x4s and screwed through the bench and into the 2x4s inside the bench... This gave me some meat to screw my pedastal mount into, after I put plywood on my for deck and over my bench... I used metal wall anchors to attach the wood to my metal bench seat.

At first, after seeing the heavy materials you used to build this thing I had to ask myself if it was going to float or sink...lol...But your craftsmanship and choice placement as well as the absence of an outboard motor showed me otherwise. I wonder though, if you bothered to water seal that wood because I would be concerned about that. It is 2014 now and I am curious. Great job!

@sreeves012002 Thanks... The electrical is pretty easy.... all basic wiring... You just have to decide to start one day and take it a step at a time... I had no idea how to do any of it, I just look a lot at other peoples ideas and combined them all together with mine... I didn't even know if it would float, but I tried to keep the weight down as much as possible and keep it as balanced as I could... When I put it in the water for the first time.

@1996TheRocketman That is my minnow bucket... It just lays in the boat so that I can keep my minnows alive.. I know I could have used a bubble bucket, but this is what I use in my other boat to keep shad and skip jack alive when I'm trolling for Strippers... It's basically just a rounded cooler with an aerator in it that runs off of 12VDC... I just put a 12V plug in so I could set it in this boat and use it as well, or an occasional spot light at night...

@xXcam0manXx I stand on mine... You can't do too much side to side moving, but it's as stable as a 48" wide boat can be I guess... I wanted something that was small, didn't set in the water too much so I could get in shallow... This boat works great for that and I have all the electronic things I have on my Bass Tracker.... I love it.

@dalehughes3 It's not much weight at all... I only have (2) 8FT 2x4s and 1 sheet of 1/2"plywood... The batteries don't weight much more than an outboard and I compensated the weight distribution by moving my front seat slightly foward... I figured if I kept most of the heavy weight down below the top of the boat, it would be pretty stable which it is... I had my 285+ butt, my brothers 265+ butt and all our gear, including a full of ice cooler in the boat... it floats great.

It sits in the water higher than I expected it to... Very stable to sit and fish... I have stood on the front a few times to fish, but with a 48" wide boat, it's going to be a bit rocky if you move alot... I really have had no issues where I thought I was going to fall out though.

While I was building, someone told me the treatment they use for the lumber would eat a hole in aluminum... I made everything easy to remove in case I ever needed to replace it, but I took a panel off a month ago and they look brand new still... I guess it's because they all sit up so high and don't get wet... The carpet is rubber backed so the water runs off and goes to the bilge where it is pumped out.
@markmoore42420

It is super stable... I've had me (290lbs) & my brother (260lbs), a bait tank full of water, cooler, tackle boxes and rods in the boat and it sits fine in the water and is very stable... Trick is to get most of your weight on the bottom... that's why the person in the back is basically sitting on the bench seat... I will have to take some pictures of it loaded in the water and me standing on the front... LOL.. you will be shocked how stable it is.
