let me say how i appreciate your videos, i'm really impressed by your "picking art" it seems so easy when it's you... I'm still learning & need some practise, it's quite hard to improve my skill. Regards.

Schlage owns Kryptonite locks. The Schlage and Kryptonite locks you compare are the same lock with different paint jobs.

Good to see Schlage is keeping at least some decent standards. Always has been a good brand in my rookie opinion. And yeah...I always grind off the codes of any key I have. Master used to advertise that all you have to do is send the code and like a few bucks to get replacement keys for the locks they sold. Not good.

Masterlock is the one brand that doesn't need a key or prior skill to open as well tho lol.

I like to swap the spools for all serrated then after that try 1 spool in a strategic place and the rest serrated to see what is the toughest set up. lots of fun with a single lock

A few serrated would definitely be nice in this lock.

Just got two of these and returned them. Neither of them had the security pins for anti dirlling, and like this neither of them had the lil protection plate which allows one to bypass the core entirely

I see so many locks that look just like this one with a bunch of different brand names on them. Are most of the exteriors made by the same manufacturer, and for that matter are some of the interiors made the same also. I noticed that Kryptonite and Schlage are owned by Allegion. Just wondering if they both just rebrand the same lock???

Just curious, since you're always super fast with these picks - do you pick them before you record just to get the feel for it?
@lockpickinglawyer

Yes, I almost always pick a lock a couple times before setting up the camera... The exception is for locks that I know will be pretty easy, like (for example) the video I will be posting tomorrow or my old video on the Kwikset UltraMax.

good vid, yeah a very bad idea with that code on the key.

Thanks... That practice always struck me as foolish. It's going out of your way and doing extra work to make the system less secure!

I recently encountered a Chinese look alike called the LIONS SECURITY and the core is typical junk. No security at all just standard pins. I raked it open on my first try in 3 seconds.

Are Schlage's padlock pins the same diameter as their door lock pins? I'd like to get some of these padlocks and then key them all the same. I already have a Schlage pinning kit by LAB.

Just curious, there looks to be a setscrew on the back of this lock. What is the purpose of that? I figured I should ask first before tinkering with mine. Thanks for the excellent videos by the way!

Hi LPL. I'm confused about when pin 5 was set. You detected a false set when you first got a click out of 5, and then you moved onto 6, never returning to 5. So when was 5 actually set then? Thanks!

Can a shim work on these padlocks? I know, not as fun, but just curious.
@lockpickinglawyer
8 жыл бұрын
+TitzMacGee Archer Nope. These have a dual ball bearing locking mechanism. 100% unshimable. Without looking down the shackle hole, you can usually spot locks like that by the half moon cutout for the locking balls.

I have two of these padlocks and have lost the keys for them. They are both unlocked, so the core could be removed, is there a replacement source for something like that or should I junk them?
@PapaGleb

What was the price tag on this one? Iv been looking at them for a while but never thought they would be anything more than a 700 copy. Also don't like that they stamp the direct code on the keys.

A little pricier than I usually like to pay for a lock like this, but I spent $37 for a 2 pack (I have not seen them sold as singles) on amazon. To be fair, it's a pretty good price considering what you get... I just like to bargain hunt.

Security wafer in there?
@lockpickinglawyer
8 жыл бұрын
+RJ Robert James No, but it's not needed. Note that the half moon on the tail of the core is on top, not the side (like in AL products). There's no way to get a bypass tool between the core and the actuator.
