Aah, the beautiful sound of the MD. My dad bought a 1947 model, when i was just a kid. My all time favorite tractor.

Yup. Pony pressed in a lot flax back in the day. Standard MD with 3 14” rope trip plows. A real Adrenalin shock when you’re dozing and you hit a rock and unhook the plow.

I had a 54 Super MD Stage 2. I pulled 4-14s in 3rd gear. I cultivated with a 461 4 row. It worked all day on less than 20 gallons of fuel.

A 1953 said Farmall on the grill and did not have live hydraulic, the pump was behind the engine under the belly and the battery was under the tank. A 1954 said IH on the grill, had live hydraulic and the battery was under the seat.

I grew up attached to a SMDTA that was our big horse for quite a few years. Had a big manure spreader that ran all winter on it & it pulled the plow & disk in the spring & was the bale wagon road tractor all summer. Those were the days when men were men & when democrats loved our country. Now, not so much…

Your Farmall looks nice. It’s fun to watch old farm equipment working. Do you use that tractor in cold weather? Thank you for your videos and stay safe.
@danbeske8593

We do not. It's only used for plowing once per year for our annual plow event that takes place after the wheat harvest sometime in late August or early September. It also would be used in a local tractor show.

There's a possibility you could warp the gas valves if you run it on gas for too long. They don't seat with the head when they are down so the heat isn't wicked away from them like a normal valve. But 1 minute should be fine if it's cold.

The gas engine is only used to start the Diesel engine, so no, it doesn't change the horsepower rating. Thank for watching!

hard to believe that you can easily put 15k just int the engine because of how intrictut and complex they where plus very limited parts availability now.

Thanks for watching, Robert. He doesn't normally plow that fast. He was just plowing this fast so as generate a bit of diesel smoke for the video.
