Well sir, you are inspiring. Tackling this chassis took some courage. In my view, it was pretty rough. You're doing a great job of filming ! Best of luck on the build !!

It would be a better result by replacing the rest cross support

Thanks, it was a Lincoln Electric Weld-Pak 140HD.

Looking at your patch panels I not confident in your welds. We're they continuous or pulsed? The other thing is even if they looked okay after grinding I suspect you will get cracking over time. Seems like you need to compensate by adding reinforcement. Do you plan to do this?

The welds were pulsed to a degree for heat dissipation. I did add some reinforcement to the frame itself but ultimately time will tell...

What gauge steel did the frame end up being?

I can't remember off the top of my head but Hellwig makes an A body frame kit using 10 gauge steel if that helps.

@@themiddleagedgoodtimers4768 Yes, that helps! I looked up their frame kits and it said 10 gauge to match the factory thickness. Thank you!

did u ever remove all that rust?

Yes I did, I had the entire frame sandblasted, you can see it in one of my more recent videos.

@ 11:35 hahahahaha. Did you weld both sides of each patch?
@themiddleagedgoodtimers4768
2 жыл бұрын
Haha, I was wondering if anyone would catch that. I waited on the backside of the patches because I couldn't clean the rust out effectively. I just got the frame back from the blaster, so now I can get in there and finish up the other side.

Your frame is pitted by rust. You cant find a good frame?

I couldn’t, so I decided to try to fix it and get it blasted. Luckily it came out ok.
