@Quintus Horatius Flaccus This was pretty much '68 so they were 2-1/2 years into a 6 year career. Strange Days, the 2nd album had been out for 3 months. Great show but not early days.

It's amazing that the recording and sound quality here is this good. Cassettes and their recording technology were in their infant stage (at best) by this time.

Yeah - & just to have been able to sneak in such a relatively large Cassette recorder & gotten away with it is an amazing accomplishment in itself back then.

morrison is an inferno here.... his voice shifts from a madman to psychedelic shaman to a raw bluesman, yet in all cases still under control. you can feel the unease in the crowd due to his power and unpredictability yet control to turn it on a pivet. punk before punk.

This is remarkably listenable for an AUD from Winterland in 1967. It's hardly ideal but Winterland was a tricky place to get a good pull with 1960's-1970's technology. I'm thinking this might be a front row balcony tape.

Trish Peyton If rock was God ,the town of New Haven is the Devil. When U2 opened their first US tour in '81,only 28 people showed up.When Nirvana played there in '91 only 168 people paid to get in.Kurt padded the audience by bringing over 20 underage gutter punks who always hung out at shows.
