Espo always had a great sense of humor. Nice touch taking a bow to relieve the tension.

Espo is very popular in Russia today. Even the Russians appreciated how Esposito handled that embarrassment with humour.

On the stands, a close assistant of Brejnev (apparently a general) did laugh at Esposito's salutations but he was looked at with a grim face. ^^

I met Igor Larionov back in the 90's when he played for the Canucks. (took most of the team fishing) He said the Russian players couldn't believe he took the bow...something they would dare not do under Tikhonov.

Jean Ratelle, what a player of great class. I would have liked to have seen him score and he almost succeeded but his timing was off. What a gift we were given.

The Great Jean Beliveau was interviewed and he was saying that the players were under great pressure because it was not hockey out there - it was a war. It was a battle over whose system was the best!! Now anyone who is anybody in Russia plays in Canada and this starting in the batam and midget hockey levels. Not more waiting in Vladivostock to be discovered.
