Sometimes we don't have time or space to properly inspect. You have to go with intuition at that point.

Looks like one of my comments was deleted by KZitem. So here it is again without any web links: The hole in the front is from the dealer (not factory) installed AC. The sticker in the rear trunk shows that it had AC and some point. The engine is not a 2.0L, you can tell from the spark plug locations. Either a 1.7L or 1.8L case. Most of the rubber parts you'll need you can get from 914rubber, all the sheet-metal is available from restoration-design.

Guessing the tape you pulled off underneath was put there by a body guy to provide support for a bondo job. Those heat exchangers are the single tube 75-76 units that were known to be power robbing... As Cyb's Sandbox noted, despite the 2.0 marking on the back the engine isn't a factory 2 liter. Sway bars F/R were an option on 75/76 cars. Also those mirrors do not look factory and in the US I don't believe a passenger mirror was ever an option, although the passenger doors all do have the nuts mounted in the inside to allow you to mount a passenger mirror. The plug behind the foot rest is from the EGR counter, which was an early type of emissions control for the cat versions of the 914 (i think CA only?) '75/'76 had the charcoal canister in the engine compartment. No cover for the clutch pulley.

An interesting video, thanks for taking so much trouble. I have a 1975 914 built a few months before yours. I just checked the VIN number. Mine is an ex-California car but luckily in really good shape. Mine has sway bars front and rear from factory. Plus she has black and white cloth seat inserts in the seats, a little bleached from the sun. I intend to replace those cloth panels. There is a supplier on the internet for the cloth as original based in Poland. I am Europe based so Poland is just up the road. I think you will find that is a 1.8 Litre engine, mine is a 1.8 L and has the original fuel injection, which I am pleased about. Good luck with the restoration, it will be interesting to watch your progress. If you replace the floor pan panels will you put her on a spit/tilter?

Thanks Tony. I'm actually just putting the 914 on a car lift. No need to flip. With the longitudinals in place, everything should stay alligned.

I put my batteries in wooden boxes to absorb the acid.....kluggy....but it works.

i did have a 73 with cloth seat inserts the 73 i have now has front and rear sway bars factory

Yes, in a subsequent video I figure out it's a 1.8L swap.
