I just inherited my Father’s 760 Gamemaster in 30-06. It was my Grandfather’s deer rifle. It’s in extremely good shape. I cannot wait to shoot it. Thank you for the video.

I have a 760 in 30-06 that I bought new in 1976. It was my go-to gun for the 40 years I hunted deer with it. I've killed over 60 deer with mine. It's shows a little wear, but for being carried in the field for 40 seasons in all kinds of nasty weather, it has held up rather well.

My old man bought us matching guns (Visibly) 16 years ago! he bought me a .308 760 Game Master all synthetic stocks , and him a 7600 -06 in synthetic stocks. i just traded my AR M&P10 .308 for a new 7600 in 35 Whelen! killed all my deer with my 760 Game Master! from 300 yards down to 20 yards! These Rifles are the very best for hunting! quicker follow up shots! no manipulating your shooting hand after each shot! just all around faster gun to shoot than any other actions besides semi. all i've killed all my deer with my 760 Game Master using 180gr CoreLokt being the best to shoot out of it! second would be 150gr Hornady! third would be Fusions weird you think 180gr CoreLokt does not shoot good... thats mind blowing to me!

I am also a big fan of these rifles. I have a 1978 in 270 that loves american whitetail 130 grain and a 1983 7600 30 06 that clover leafs federal power shock 150 grains at 100 yards. You may want to give them a try.

On the inside of the tabs on the ammo box it will day what month and year it was manufactured..I'm particularly familiar with both boxes and the federal 165 boat tail was probably manufactured in early 80s maybe mid 80s

I have a Remington 760 in 270 Cal. I bought it in 1971 and has less than 20 rounds through it. I bought the pump because I am left handed and the 742 automatic used to eject shell casings on the end of my nose.

I had the 7600 3006 in 22" but I have the 7600 3006 carbine 18.5" barrel and they both kick as much as a man can stand...my particular 18.5" 7600 shoots best with the federal premium HE ...high energy...its close to 300 WSM numbers

I’ve got questions! I’ve got a 760 game master carbine with a 70’s Leopold scope on it that has turned pink from age. I can’t see the crosshairs and it’s just got one dot in the center. I inherited it 35 years ago. It’s got a look under scope mount and peep sights. It’s my favorite gun! I’ve killed from forty yards to 80. I can get 1 moa groups at 150. I almost exclusively use 150 gr Remington core lokt bronze ballistic tips. I killed a whitetail at 75 yards with a throat shot spinal column hit, and another at 115. It’s the most sure fire gun I’ve ever laid hands on! Now I’m not doubting you but I did hear that every barrel made after ‘81 was garbage. Are you sure of the age of weapon and barrel? I ask because mine is a dream!!!!

It's pretty easy to look the serial number up online. If it was an 81 or later it would be a 7600.

Never a hang up when cycling rounds as with some leverguns right? To make a lighter recoiling rifle you can reload it with light 125 grain bullets and a lesser powder charge.

If deer are killed by a 100 gr bullet in a 243 and a 120 gr bullet from a 25-06 then surely deer can be killed with a 125 gr bullet in a 30-06

I have been shooting since about 1959 or 60 {some in the army between 68 and 70} Both big and small arms and have never had a bruised or sore arm or shoulder from shooting and fail to see how anybody that pulls his rifle into his shoulder very firmly would either. If it is pulled in very firmly it pushes you as opposed to "kicking" the shooter. I am sure not an expert but have shot for many decades and I do not experience kicking with any rifle or shotgun.

Looks more to he a 7600 based on the furnishing but that could just be due to the year it is. My 760 does not have the iron sights this does either.

Was the stock and forend redone or replaced? It looks like it got the works done to it. Ever consider using an assault style stock with a pistol grip?
@recurvefan
4 жыл бұрын
Ashton Snyder appears to be all original except for the recoil pad. You can google 75 Remington 760 and see stocks and forends just like this one. An assault style stock would not be appropriate on this gun.

@@recurvefan not "appropriate" but certainly shortend the gap with loading time and stability. I did that to mine.

Why not shoot modern ammo that you can get more of ?
@recurvefan
3 жыл бұрын
I got the ammo in a deal and it suited me because it was from the same time frame as the gun. When I run out I will certainly use whatever ammo I get that shoots well but it won't be Remington Core Lokt because I can't get that to shoot out of anything I have. It will probably be handloads that will be loaded with a load that works in the gun and is the proper OAL.
