Ive had a long love affair with the 35 Remington. In fact my first deer rifle ever was a 35 Remington. A savage model 170 that I received around my 12th birthday. Since that time I’ve owned several marlin 336 35 Remingtons. I’ve shot a rifle like yours that belonged to one of my dads friends but never had the chance to have one of my own. I only use 3 bullets in 35 Remington. Hornaday 200 grain RN soft point, RCBS 35-200-FN, and LEE 158 grain swc with gas check. The cast bullets get powder coated.

I've got a Remington 760 in 35 Remington. I bought it about 10 years ago and never shot it. I love the 35 Remington, so every time I saw one and could afford it, I bought it. It's very easy cartridge to shoot, it's a great hunting cartridge, and it does very well with cast bullets. I usually shoot my H&R Handi rifle or my model 141. You just prompted me to go dig this old Remington out. I'll get it cleaned up and get a better scope on it There must be a wild hog out there somewhere that I need to get with it! Thanks for sharing!!

I've got a May of 1979 production 760 .35 Remington. Absolutely superb rifle/ cartridge combo. Mine likes the 200 grain round nose Core Lokt over 45 grains of Hodgdon LVR. Also likes the 200 grain Hornady FTX over 43 grains of LVR. Both loads are spooky accurate.

You have “long” gun version. I have a special run 7600 carbine 35 Remington from 2004’. If I remember Remington made it a standard run for a year in the 7600 around 1988 when they also did the 35 whelen. I bought the special run whelen 7600 carbine back in 19’ or 20’…you a'ready know…lol Can't forget about my 30-06 7600 as well...my favorite.

I think you could have shot the rest of those loads. The pump handle seemed to have come back with no difficulty (sticking slightly). I can tell when I fire a round intended for my 30-06 bolt guns in my dad's old 760 '06. The pump sticks a lil bit. If there's a hint of excess headspace in your gun, the primer gets blown back to meet the bolt face because it's the easiest thing to start moving. Then, if there's enough pressure, the case will stretch and the head will get blown back, swaging down the primer in the process, making it appear to be flattened due to excess pressure. If your velocities are normal, I think your pressures are normal. Thanks for sharing! 😊

My worry. Biggest was this was for another. I didnt want any chance of an issue. So backing down .5 seems ta have cured the spike. I fired Monday again and brought one lever too. Both shot the new load with no issues and @ 2165 fos. (I had chrono that day!)

I have considered one of these in my favorite cartridge in .35 whelen. However never purchased one as I really couldn't justify another whelen, especially one that limits the cartridge overall length of the pump. As for Vhitivori my only experience with it is the 500 series. I love the N540 for the 06, and if you seen I'm getting great #s out of the 30-30 Ackley improved project with the same powder. May I suggest N530 to work up, if you can find it. Mountain man
@cw2a

Im gonna grab some 540 next time I see it. Never tried. But I use most all older powders pretty often. As for Whelen, I like slot but really like 358 Win. I always wanted a Whelen 760 too. Never had opportunity. I have had 243, 308, 30/06 and this 35 rem. Only one is this one now. But like the 760/ pulps allot.
