Hi I would like to know where you buy your ignition coil online or at a local marine boat store? I have a 55hp Chrysler with a bad ignition coil.

Again thanks for a great video ! Using a torque limiting socket on that impact while tighthening the flywheel might be a good idea since it generates much more torque than the (around) 45 ft/pounds called for such a motor, Stay safe and be merry !

Daniel Robert… Again excellent advice. From the information I can find online the Torque requirement for this size motor may be closer to 65 - 105 psi. I can’t be sure but I think it’s correct.

@@LivetofishOutboardRepair Well my torque spec was out of a Chrysler (1973) 25-30-35 hp shop manual. Your motor sure is a later model but from an outboard tinkerer to another with (hopefully) a sense of humor, I doubt that your spec number reads in "psi" !!! Hey more seriously, I can only guess at the huge amount of time you put in putting those videos online and I thank you for it. Stay safe and be merry mon ami !

Daniel Robert …. Maybe the torque was in Neuton Meters 😂. Thank you for your input I believe your probably right. I just hope I can get the flywheel off because I’m sure they’ll want me to work on their motor again. I’m glad you like the videos and your suggestions will make me better at working on these motors. Keep um coming.

Hi, thanks for your video it helped a lot. But I have a 1978 35hp and I wounder if the coils ohm still shall be 2-3 and 13500-15000ohm from + to spark output? And do you know the exact distance for my breakertips? I can’t find a manual and new coils seems hard here in Sweden to. Thanks in advance😁

Jack Johansson…. Yes those numbers for resistance are correct if your motor is an electric start even for the 35 hp. The Point Gap is 0.15” (38 mm)

if you use shoulder screws, they will all be the exact same height thus the puller is even. its all about how even the puller itself is. if its cockeyed, you will strip threads. but always loved those little 45-60hp chryslers. I think they were the last to use a 12v battery ignition, which i love because instant starting, even if its the middle of winter.

RI Outboards ….. You are exactly right. I have worked in the fastener industry most of my 38 yrs. I found some 5/16” hardened flange head shoulder bolts that were not included with my cheap puller kit from Harbor Freight. It worked fine. I just had to be patient and let it sit for a bit under pressure to get it to pop. Thanks for sharing your story. Your comments are much appreciated.

@@LivetofishOutboardRepair hey np. just my 2 cents as an outboard mechanic! I recently had a 1965 33hp evinrude with a stuck flywheel. when it finally popped loose, it sounded like a gunshot! thankfully i had put the flywheel nut back on a few turns so the flywheel itself couldn't kill me haha!

RI Outboards …. Really? You needed to duck. That would have interesting. It was a good idea to put the nut back.

Hi, thanks for sharing your knowledge, I was wandering, where did you get that push button switch that you use to start the motor without having to go to the console, it is real handy.

@manueltorres1047….Timing on these motors is done by setting the points correctly under the flywheel. They should be gapped at 0.020”. Then you do a link & sync on the carburetor to make sure the butterfly inside the carb opens as you open the throttle.

I thought so too at first but that’s what the model number and service manual makes it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
