@Godflesh88 ... I've had this boat since 2006. Never had no problems out of it. This motor pushes this 16 footer about 25-27mph. I'll send you a vid showing it in the water. Thanks for commenting!

I have this same boat and motor! Don't see many bass attackers. Pretty cool. Thanks for the video.

@Budnipper82 Those JohnnyRudes are good motors. I'm looking forward to running mine, but things are just starting to thaw out here in Minnesota. In the mean time, I'm looking forward to some fishing on the Tennessee river the last week of April. Hopefully I get some stripes and maybe a few cats. I enjoyed your videos. Thanks for sharing.

Is that for sure an 83 model? I cant find the tag for mine but it looks exactly like yours. Didn't start mine for 15 years and today I put clean gas to her and pulled the cord ONCE and it ran perfect( battery was too heavy to carry into the back) Great motor brotha.

I'm pretty sure it is.. I originally thought it was an 85 but then I seen pics of the cowling on 83 models so I assume mine is too. This motors are tough.. I love mine.. Hadn't never had trouble out of it since I've had it except had to replace a fuel line.

Do you have a single or double lever controller? I wish my Johnsen 35 idled like that. Mine dies instead of idling. Not sure if it's a carb issue or, the throttle linkage from the controller. Also, wish I knew the year of my motor. The boat is a 1979 15 foot Johnson skiff. Wondering if the motor is also that old. At 100% throttle she cooks tho. Planes quickly and runs about 25 mph. If i could get it to idle I'd be so grateful 🙏

you do not need water to start it or run it ,as long as you only run it for 10 seconds

k CARVING . You are correct as pertaining to cooling the engine ., could probably run it for longer and be ok.. however anytime you start or even turn the engine over without a water supply, you put stress on the water pump impeller and will wear it out. So always make sure you have it in the water or a hose hooked to it before even turning the engine over.
