Thanks Joe, sadly Ruby went to a new home. I told the gentleman who was interested in purchasing it that if he could find one flaw on it I would deduct $1000 from my asking price. This bike was showroom new, the radio caddy was so unique, I put a waterproof dongle on it which allowed me to run a Bluetooth device into the 80's radio and also charge your device at the same time. Its barely noticeable but you can see the black flap on the dash adjacent to the gage cluster on the right side. Thanks for watching and for the compliment

Hay Kenny, I just bought a 1985 FLHTC about a month ago myself. I have not owned a Harley in 30+ yrs..lol. My last was a chopped 66 Sportster. I always wanted a Dresser & I ran across one priced right & bought it. I don't have any of the owners manuals for it yet. I have rode it a little. Gettin used to a dresser after 30 yrs of non 2 wheelin is a new bridge to cross for me. These things weigh a ton! It don't help that I have 2 bad knees & one bad hip to be replaced when I git my Medicare in Oct, but I love it. I bought it from a 78 yr old feller that bought it & never rode it. He has diabetes & his wife wouldn't let him keep it. It doesn't have the faring. Any pointers you can give me would be helpful on Maint. etc. It has 55000 miles on the bike, but only 5000 on a newly rebuilt engine. I haven't kept up with Harley jargon in 30 yrs. What is this EVO talk? How would I know if mine has EVO or not. I do know that it has a 42 Mikuni carb, which is what i had on my Sportster. If you are up on papertalk from a dealer I could send you some info on the rebuild as it was totally went thru by the Harley dealer in Bowling Green KY. They sent me the paper work on it's history. If you could give me & email I could send you copies, maybe you could explain to me.

Hi Larry and thanks for the comments. Happy to hear about your new bike, you picked up a fantastic year for your bike as any Harley Davidson built between 1984 (late) and 1998 are considered "Evolution" powered bikes. Personally speaking I'm a very big fan of these particular year bikes. I suggest that you learn as much about your bike by buying a factory service manual for it and read it from cover to cover. I learned just by reading and staying on top of the maintenance. If you ever needed any professional advice on how to best maintain your bike there is a young man on KZitem named "John Maxwell". He's a factory trained service technician at a shop in Tennessee and is a great dude. I'm sure that if you were to subscribe to his channel he'd answer any of your questions. Here's one of his latest videos. He's a really nice fella... Not saying I'm not but I'd rather have you learn more about your bike from him than me. kzitem.info/news/bejne/t4yty3qZnH2blHY Very respectfully, Kenny Wise

Hi Larry, THANK YOU!! Yeah I couldn't resist purchasing this bike. It was (is) the most all original bike ive EVER purchased. I installed a dongle on it to permit me to plug a device into it and stream whatever thru the speakers.

Deacon had the Shovel , and I had the Evo 84 -86 every nut bolt was the same , parts off the 83 to 87 fit perfect .

84-1/2's was the only year that shared the same shovelhead inner & outer primary cover with a hump over the derby cover for the starter. I would hate to own one only due to the fact that you'll probably never source parts for these rare ones

Cool beans! The radio caddie is very rare for these bikes. I've never seen one with the Volume Control on the handlebar controls either. Thanks for the comment, appreciate you sharing.

Hi Dan, per my correspondence with Harley Davidson there were a total of 3,991 built for the 1985 model year, out of that number there were 588 in the Burgundy/Candy Pearl paint color.

@@thezappafan89 cool, thanks for your comments. Sadly "Ruby" went to a new home. I told the interested person that if he found one flaw on the bike I'd deduct $1000 from my asking price. The bike looked showroom new after I gave it a thorough cleaning and service. It had a very rare "Radio Caddy" with volume control on the left side of the bars. Very rare stuff, never seen another one with that option.
