The 90s was arguably the best decade in open wheel racing. So many big names and great races in both F1 and Indy/CART, with spectacular, mean ass cars screaming down the track. That was racing.

What is interesting is that people from a U.K. Or European f1 background like me and people from a U.S Indy background both idolize the early-mid 90s for quality. Both sports were epically good. I think we took them slightly for granted at the time. What's interesting is that people on both sides of the pond complain about what our sports have become today.

Of the Delta Force intros, this one is my favorite. I'm also working on a similar video. This one celebrates 100 years of American Racing. My version will be celebrating 100 years at the Brickyard in 2009, A 100 year anniversary in 2011, and the 100th Running of the 500 in 2016. The hard part, finding out where I can get the music.

Personally the IRL vs Champ Car to me is the same as NY Mets vs NY Yankees, Chicago Cubs vs Chicago White Sox and SF Giants vs LA Dodgers to name a few rivalries. Each has their fans and are passionate about them. Each team's fans gets on the other team's fans for rooting for the wrong side.

Or, in turn...they wanted to mass-produce "close, exciting racing"...without paying attention to the fact that nothing dulls the edge of anything like oversaturation. In the words of Bill Watterson, through his character of Calvin, al la Calvin & Hobbes, their attitude is: "What's the good of originality if you can't crank it out?" Either way, though...it is still Indy. Wheldon proved you could utterly dominate in 2006...and that race ended with the old addage, "It ain't over until..."

Conspiracy theories aside, Tony Stewart was one of those drivers to break the old record, and he's no slouch (or wasn't, when he was in better shape). Maybe George did want to wipe them clean; driving at 236+ is still driving that fast, and it takes someone with "lower guts" to do it.

The '96 cars outpaced them. If leaving politics completely out of it, the actual TECH of the '96 teams was probably superior. Would that they could bring back both options on engines, natural or turbo, and let them have at it; or, for that matter, let them run the new clean and lighter diesel tech, in these corn-oil-powered vehicles days.

Well no doubt. Take Andretti, no doubt he would have won the race if the split hadn't happened. 91 great race. 92 dominated, 94. Great race. 95 dominating until he brushed the wall. No doubt he should have won. Vasser, Zanardi were with target competitive cars every year in champ car no doubt they'd be strong at indy. Moore, and the players team were strong in 98 and 99, so I think it's a shame so many talented drivers were robbed. The fans deserved to see the best, so now it's time to give back

Honestly, it comes down to concerns about how expensive it became/is becoming again. And that is a war of philosophies, nothing less. Liberalism, complete with fear of the brutality of real motorsports, is what we have now. Make SURE the Little Guy has something of a chance to succeed, every year. The old (better?) way was to just let life be what it is, and the Little Guy only rarely (but memorably) ever wins. All things being equal, those with more than others have a better shot.
