The 1995 Cornhuskers had 4,398 net yards rushing, opponents totaled 862. Complete domination.

Yes that '94 Nebraska team was amazing!i watched that game as a 19yr old and was amazed,pure greatness in both sides.when comparing"better"past teams of course if you're from Nebraska you'd say Nebraska or from Miami/Miami fan Miami.my team is LSU this year they had a great team just didn't finish.but that Nebraska team was tops in my opinion no doubt.they deserved to be champs!

And Nebraska had a wealth of NFL talent as well. They had 33 NFlers on that team. How were they as college players? Their entire defensive line were consensus All Americans at one point in their career. Phillips was one of the best college running backs in recent memory and he was backed by Ahman Greene. Tommy Frazier is overshadowed only by Vince Young as a dual threat. Their offensive line, chock full of All Americans.

This wasn't some fluke match up where they was a debate about who the best teams in the nation were and who should be in the National Championship Game. Florida was easily the second best team in the nation that year. So for Nebraska beat Florida by that much shows how good they really were. 1995 Nebraska may be the best college football team of all time.

I think the 2001 Miami Hurricanes would think differently. 38 total draft picks, 17 first rounders alone, 6 of whole went in the 2004 draft and most of those six players didn’t even start in 2001. They had Willis McGahee, Sean Taylor, Vince Wilfork, Antrell Rolle and Kellen Winslow Jr riding the pine that season cause they couldn’t unseat the guys ahead of them. That’s talent.

As a FSU fan. I'm actually relieved in hindsight that Florida beat us in the season finale that year. Because it most likely would've been FSU getting this beat down had we beat Florida. Because that game ended up being a play in game.Although FSU was 4-0 vs Nebraska in recent bowl history. And did pretty good vs their option attack. That 95 team was a whole different beast. And would've whooped FSU too. That's only team I feel that way about vs any noles team from the 90s. Probably the best team ever. IMO

Something crazy to think about - had that season been played under the rules from just a year earlier these two teams couldn't have met. Nebraska would have played in the Orange Bowl, probably against Florida State, while Florida would have been in the Sugar, probably against Texas. They both would have won easily, and may even have split the national title, and we would still be debating all these years later who would have won a matchup between the two. Crazy, huh?
@bogg7zed102

It could have happened. The only difference being is that the Rose Bowl wasn't part of the Bowl Coalition in 94. If they would have been then Penn State could have played Nebraska.

@squakeyes There's definitely a debate for the 1994-95 season...Penn State and Nebraska had similar schedules and talent, and obviously both teams finished undefeated. The Nittany Lions had one of the best offenses ever, and the Blackshirts had Touchdown Tommie, LP, and the Blackshirts. It's a shame they didn't meet in a bowl game.

Just because Miami's players improved as they went into the NFL doesn't mean they were a better college team. A TEAM is much more than the sum of its parts which seems to be your argument: "Just add the parts together." That Miami team got lucky against BC and VT. They beat a Nebraska team in the title game that Colarado had utterly destroyed. Nobody even got close to the 1995 Huskers. 4 top ten teams beaten by an average of 49-18. Closest margin being 23 points. 95 Huskers > 01 Miami
