Shortly before the 1997 F1 season kicked off on its brand new channel of ITV, Clive James hosted a chat show featuring FOURTEEN of the current F1 drivers. This is probably the largest assemblage of F1 drivers in one studio. Clearly they all had personality and a good sense of humour that night and the questions were in good humour too!
Michael Schumacher didn't come to the studio, but he did an interview via satellite so at least he tried. Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart and Nigel Mansell also came to the studio with their old cars to discuss how they differed from the cars of 1997. I don't see this sort of show ever happening again, not only because current F1 drivers are not allowed to show their personalities, but mostly because they don't have personalities. To watch a dozen F1 drivers sucking up to the sponsors and their bosses doesn't seem so appealing.
It's getting harder and harder to avoid the copyright police to bring you these unique programs, so I'm having to make slight modifications to the content by deleting certain scenes, as you will see. Luckily, it doesn't really detract from the programme.
