Battle turned out to be a pretty good WR... Wish he hadn't got injured, no telling how good of a QB he could have developed into. He still made it to the league, tells you just how good of an athlete he was. #Irish4Life

@@dqmachine2624 He knew he wasn't an NFL qb, that's why he took the Rams gig. And yes, he was fast, 4.3 fast. The problem happened in about the third or fourth pre-season game for the Rams. Crouch went across the middle for a pass where his quarterback "hung him out to dry". He got absolutely BLASTED by a safety. He did catch it, but I'm positive he left that game thinking NFL receiver wasn't for him. Too bad someone didn't pull him aside and tell him to only catch that ball if the game is on the line. Holt or Bruce would've pulled up and let that pass go, unless it was critical. I watched them do it all the time.

Great game. I’d forgot about this one but slowly remembered it as I watched. Took me a minute with the ND QB, Arnaz Battle. I’d forgot about him. Remember him in the nfl as a receiver. Do remember when Willingham took over. They won their first 4 games with crazy plays on d and special teams. Their offense couldn’t do anything that season. Heck, this may be that season. Not sure.

I know that Nebraska even now will take the home field advantage with them when they play teams like northwestern and Rutgers but Notre f'ing Dame? A top 25 ND? Jesus Christ I wish I was alive for that era. Early 60s to 2001 was probably the greatest dynastical run in CFB history period. But unfortunately husker football was killed on the grass of Pasadena by a familar foe.
@patoconnor9600

That was indeed unbelievably pathetic. But it was basically Notre Dame fans recognizing what an awful coach Davie was (his third or fourth year I believe?) and deciding it was better to scalp their tickets for probably five times face value to rabid Nebraska fans. Serves them right for missing a great game the Irish could have won had Davie shown some backbone and gone for the win instead of playing for OT. Also, I wish the Irish would get the has-been Huskers back on their schedule soon so they could stomp them a few times. :)
