My experience with adhesive is it continues drying after it cures eventually losing its hold. A few hot summers is all it will take to dry out the adhesive resulting in the dash cover popping up. These covers are an affordable short term fix for a cracked dash however it’s better to replace it with a OEM dash panel that has the clamps to hold it in place without using adhesive.

the answer to everyone's question is because they did not use a oem dash, they used an aftermarket OVERLAY!! It must be installed on what is left of the original dash. I hope this helps.

Clearly, it isn't the same for the 4th generation Firebirds! My husband has been working for 4 hours in a hundred degree heat, trying to get a new Dashskins dash cover in our 1998 Firebird! Why am I so upset!? Because when I looked at your dash cover, I noticed the front lip ( that goes closest to the windsheild) comes straight out to a point. Ours curls at that end, and my husband has been carving a half inch of plastic off the front of it! So far, ( after four hours) he still hasn't got it to fit down in there! My job!? Go on every social media platform known to man, and share our little nightmare so others will know to leave this product completely alone!

How's it holding up over time? Do you really need to utilize those old beat up dash as they say? I'd just assume remove the whole cracked pos so there no chance of rattle down the road 😂.

Question? Why would you not remove all of the old Dash cover? It will make for a uneven fit once you install the new one. Seems like a lot of work for a job that's not done properly.

Why do you need to leave the old one in order to put the new one? I don't get that part. Could you please let us know?

The factory dash pad is held in place with a series of clamps. The type of replacement cover they used is molded without the clamps and requires adhesive to hold it in place. The old dash acts as a surface for the adhesive. The surface under the old dash is not suitable for adhesive. In my opinion gluing a shell on top of an old cracked dash is not fixing the problem. It’s only hiding it. You are better off getting an OEM dash pad replacement that snaps into place with the use of camps. Remove the old one and snap the new one into place.
