I remember that night well. State Senator Obama delivered The Keynote Address.I had never seen him before but I knew he was running for U.S.senator from Illinois. I was watching the speech in my bedroom and at the end of the speech I hurried into the den and announced to my Mother,"he's go to be our first Black president"! I didn't think it would be only four years later when Senator Obama would become president-elect and win two terms.I still love President Obama!!!

Some of the biggest dumb asses have advanced degrees, and on the flip side, many brilliant people have not gone to college. So all of what you wrote is useless drivel. There is however video proof that Obama turns into a stuttering idiot without his teleprompter.

Really? How so? The way he doubled the nat'l debt? The way he's allowed ISIS to proliferate through N Africa w/ his inept foreign policy? Is it the 45 million on food stamps? What about all the wars he's started incl. in Yemen, Libya or the Syrian refugee migration? Wait! What about all the jobs he's created (I mean lost or given away to globalist trade deals)! How about the racial discord he's instigated? Or the billions of US tax dollars he's given to Iran to allow them to build nukes meanwhile depleting the US military of their nukes and diminished the space program. Yup, I mean he's so great - HE READ A SPEECH SOMEONE ELSE WROTE! Just incredible.
@ashoka9306
7 жыл бұрын
tl;dr: of all the things you could've criticized obama for, you took the weakest arguments against him. debt grew as a result of tax cuts for the rich, stimulus packets that halted the largest recession and two wars off the books started by a republican president, wars he opposed and ended. yeah, he ended 2 wars. you complain about ISIS spreading but blame him for starting wars all over the middle east? should he intervene or not, I'm not sure here what you are trying to say. Job growth has been a real thing and I am quite curious which trade deals you are talking about. Citation needed. TPP hasn't happened and won't. He didn't instigate racial discord, people are just addressing the fact that there is still racism even to this day in this country. The average black american still get treated worse than the average white, it's not the presidents job to sugarcoat it so certain people can feel good about it. You also show great ignorance of the nuclear deal with Iran, which makes regular inspections mandatory and forbids them from building nuclear weapons, in return american companies and citizens can do business with the country and it's economy. And the money they received was assets we froze when we hit them with sanctions in the first place, so it's not taxpayers cash, it's confiscated goods. Speaking of nukes, people who are actually for nuclear reduction - a noble goal that will make this world safer because there will be less nuclear detonations that could happen intentionally or by accident, each of which could trigger a response by Russia or China - are quite upset at Obama: "Not only has the administration barely made a dent in the gigantic nuclear arsenal the United States has, it has committed more than $1tn over the next several decades to further entrenching the system into permanence, potentially sparking a dangerous new arms race." source: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/apr/01/obama-claims-nuclear-weapons-reductions-start-treaty There are several things to criticize Obama for: PRISM and similar mass surveillance operations that erode our civil liberties, irresponsible drone attacks that have killed hundreds of innocent civilians and intentionally assassinated US citizens outside of US soil who were suspected who had no trial, he never closed Guantanamo, he didn't get to pass background check laws, he deported many more immigrants than any president before him. Let's look at all the great stuff he did: He halted Bush's recession. He ended Bush's wars. He introduced healthcare to 20 million people who couldn't afford it. He nominated in Sotomayor, a justice who deeply cares about the american people and legalized gay marriage. He kept this country running even though congress republicans were hell-bent on disagreeing with him not only on policies, but on principle, even trying to shut down the government by withholding spending or wasting everybody's time by putting almost all of his nominees through extremely long congressional hearing, same with those 40 something hearing on obamacare AFTER it was made law and they didn't even grant Obama's supreme court nominee a hearing. He diplomatically solved the Iran conflict, regardless of what has been said, and he reopened our relationship with Cuba. He isn't a perfect president, but he really did make an impact on America for the better, even beyond symbolism.

This isn't a complete version of this speech. Why was this version edited? One of the best parts of Obama's 2004 DNC speech was cut out for some reason. This part: "The pundits, the pundits like to slice and dice our country into red states and blue States: red states for Republicans, blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the blue states, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the red states. We coach little league in the blue states and, yes, we've got some gay friends in the red states." "There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq, and there are patriots who supported the war in Iraq. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America."

Did he do as much as he promised? Nope. Has any president done everything they promised aside from maybe Polk? Not really. Was he a worse president than Nixon, Jackson, Coolidge, or W. Bush? The answer is an absolutely undebatable no. His presidency is even shaping up to be better than the one plagued by innumerable firings and drama in the White House, coupled with an exposed affair with a pornstar 2 years in... That the speech which made himself president that day it self, as an Indian, I really love him a lot and he is the person of inspiration after our former president APJ Abdul Kalam. I always tried to inculcate the confidence, clarity of thoughts he has and the way he expresses them...love u sir...you are really a person which we always should try to be...

On the verge of turning just 43 years old. This speech is the launchpad. A man and President who will hopefully continue calling us to our better angels for decades to come.

This speech formed a large part of my motivation letter for a master admission, and I got it! Living in Nigeria then was nothing inspiring, nothing to refer to, but this speech brought me to Germany. I hope to save Biafra. God bless Biafra!

As a Republican, even though I disagree with some of the stances Obama has taken during his presidency, something that I cannot argue is his ability to deliver a speech. Obama is arguably one of the most passionate speakers and perhaps we may never hear anyone come close to his stage presence

"That is the true genius of America, a faith in the simple dreams of its people, the insistence on small miracles. That we can tuck in our children at night and know they are fed and clothed ... That we can *participate in the political process without fear of retribution*, and that our votes will be counted..." No comment necessary.

I just read MLK's I have a dream and the similarity is uncanny. He didn't plagiarize or anything but he clearly uses MLK to inspire his stage presence and his syntax. It definitely serves him well.

I remember watching this Democratic convention very closely. A lot of us in the UK were horrified of the Bush administration and were desperate for a Kerry win. When this man with a funny name came on to give this speech, I came away inspired! I actually thought to myself, this man could become POTUS with such vision! I never thought I would see it four years later. I remember being overjoyed when I woke up to find that Obama was elected President! A phenomenal person of high character. This is how you inspire people, perhaps Trump should take lessons.
