2006 F250, 265k miles since new, after 3 EGR Coolers during the first 7k miles I decided to delete the egr, studed the heads and added a full Banks system... lost the warranty but never had any issues other than regular wear items, 1 turbo, coolant reservoir, 1 injector, IPR and IPC, clutch fan. Not bad for the miles and the towing.

I wish I had done the EGR delete, studded heads, and bulletproof engine change with our 2005 6.0. There were so many things we loved about that Lariat truck, and even that PowerStroke engine. If it weren’t for the issues I mentioned - that truck was a keeper. What you did to your truck would have kept us in our old truck a long time. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

I have a '99 Ford F250 Super Duty with the V10. In '99 Ford had two F250s, the Super Duty and one that was built on the F150 frame, sort of like a heavy half. I bought mine used and I bought it to pull my 18 foot trailer. In it's previous life it was probably used to pull a RV or a horse trailer as it's set up for a 5th wheel and it's set up with electric trailer brakes and has a 110 outlet in the bed with a 7 pin trailer receptacle plus the 4 pin connector. Unfortunately someone cut off the catalytic converter a few months ago while it was sitting in my driveway. The converters on the Super Duty's bring good money, so they're prone to being stolen.

A good friend of mine has a F250 with the V10. I had a few opportunities to ride in it - great truck! His is the manual transmission. He's towed a camper with it for years. They're great reliable trucks. Nice that yours has the 110 V outlet! That's horrible that someone stole the catalytic converter. I've heard that's a problem in some areas. I imagine that they're not only expensive, but also hard to find!

@@PurpleCollarLife Very expensive for the Ford Super Duties, the converters on them are high on the list of ones being stolen.

Wow, your truck sounds exactly like the one I have. 99 F250 super duty v10, 4x4 super cab lariat...yep, someone cut the catalytic converter off mine too at some point prior to me buying it...previous owner only drove it once or twice a year and they decided to sell it a few months ago...I bought it with 184k on it, did the spark plugs and coil packs a couple weeks ago.

Sounds like a mechanic issue, these trucks are reliable if taken car of properly and don’t usually suffer so many issues, except the injectors and ficm. Some issues could have been fixed once and for all years ago. Nobody should be taking their old vehicles to the dealership! And I’ve never heard of anyone putting 4 turbos on ANY stock pickup

Nice truck, not a diesel fan so I'd skip that part. I have a 99 F250 SD Lariat super cab 4x4 with the V10 in it. Bought it a couple months ago from a guy that finally gave up keeping it because he only used it once a year and it had sat for about a year and a half when I bought it. Had a pretty significant misfire when I got it, did the spark plugs and coil packs, and fixed the misfire. Overall in pretty good condition...probably end up replacing the original radio because it keeps trying to switch itself to the CD player randomly...but otherwise even with 184k on it, its still running and driving great...has the 5th wheel prep package, trailer brake controller, although I have no plans on pulling a travel trailer, its nice the stuff is there already...I use it to tow a 7x18 car trailer with my tractor and implements loaded on it....I was doing that with a 2008 Ford Explorer with the 4.6L V8, but it would struggle way more than necessary, so I started looking around for a truck...thought about an F150 but they don't have much more towing capacity in the years I was looking than my Explorer so I said the heck with it and got the F250. V10 has plenty of power, and no diesel crap to mess with.

Great question. There were many things we loved about that truck. But it kept costing us thousands of dollars in diesel repairs. It just was too frustrating. Here's the video about it: kzitem.info/news/bejne/w2qlsJl_gXeYh2U

It only has 130k miles and you had to put that much money and new parts into it?? Is that normal for a 6.0? I have a 6.4L with 160k miles and havent had to put near that much work in. And 6.4s are supposed to be way more problematic than the 6 liters
@PurpleCollarLife

The 6.0 PowerStroke was known to have it's issues. That's why many people spend the thousands of dollars to have them "bulletproofed".
@FordFan01

Be glad you havent put multiple engines in that 6.4 truck. I just put one in a truck that had 48k miles and my Dads had 2 by 50k. Both stock trucks. Or a fuel system, or a front cover, or both turbos, or piston rings, or a egr cooler, etc i could go on and on. Not to mention the difficulty of working on them. Carpal tunnel city. You win some you lose some. As a Ford technician the 6.4 is something Ive come to beg people to sell and the 6.0 has become the best bang for the buck. You can get them cheap and fix the problem areas and have less than $20k into a loaded truck thatll easily go 300k miles no issues and when it does break its not super expensive and its relatively simple to work on. Its not that ones better than the other, its that the 6.4s issues are built into the design and you cant just replace pistons or solve the front covers being eaten alive, or stop fuel pumps from leaking inexpensively. When they go they go. 6.0s issues are relatively external parts that can be replaced with superior alternatives for relatively a good price.
