Thank you, very helpful video after I discovered I had the same problem. What moron would ever design something like that. And it was the last bolt I couldn’t remove to finish the repair

You’re welcome! I’m glad I was able to help you out! I agree this is the dumbest design I’ve ever seen for control arms. When this happened to me I had to stop for a min and look at it and really think through the issue. I’m glad I had the right tools lol. Also please consider subscribing if you enjoyed the video. I have a whole bunch of ford Edge videos on here

Appreciate this video 👍🏼. My dad has a 10 edge the ball joint was replaced and it fit loose , replaced with an oversize moog ‘problem solver’ and it was loose after a few days as well. Looks like I’ll have to replace the control arm now and this helps prepare for the what if scenario.

Been there a few times too man, the roads by me are so bad I go thru balljoints like crazy. Thankfully now I can just change out the ball joint vs the entire control arm. I got some cheap rockauto control arms and they’re actually a better fit then the ones from the parts stores. Good luck with your project! If you need any help please don’t hesitate to ask!

Thank you for this video! I have the same problem you had... My rear vertical bolts came right out but the front horizontal CA to frame broke free from the "welded flag nut". Ford definitely wasn't considering R&R when they designed this! I'm about to go attempt my replication of your process. Thanks again for this!

Im sorry to hear that dude. You're welcome for the video! It pissed me off when I had to do this job. It broke at Wendy's after we drove 1500 miles on vacation. Get home and the next day the old lady goes to Wendy's and the ball joint snaps. It's a shit design by ford. They should have had an opening there to begin with and just have a normal bolt and nut

I have watched other videos and havent seen anybody cut a hole in the frame. Am i missing something?
@T-MillProductions

Did you watch the whole video? The reason I had to was because the welded nut broke free and would just spin when you would try to loosen the bolt. I had to cut out the frame to get an open end wrench in there to hold the nut to get the bolt out
@cjm3508

Could you have welded the nut back to the frame?
@T-MillProductions
Жыл бұрын
Yes you could, I couldn’t because at the time I didn’t have access to a welder. But I also wouldn’t recommend it because If you break the bolt it’s gonna be hard to get that but back off

Yes I do, and I have 239,000 on it now. I’ve changed out the whole front steering and suspension thanks to our fantastic roads up here, starter, alternator, brakes, ptu, ac compressor hub, belts, spark plugs, tires, exhaust parts, fluids, battery, tires, basically all the stuff that normally wears out lol

Hey we literally have the same problem thank you very much we’re you able to reuse the nut or did you have to get a new one and put that in place an tack it to the frame ?
@T-MillProductions

You're welcome! I used the same nut and just tightened it down. I didn't have a welder where I was so could t tack it but If you can I would

Ford is such a piece of shit. My ball joint fell off as well on my Edge. Almost killed us. POS rust bucket. They should call it RUST instead of FORD. Even the backing plate for the rear brakes are rusted through. As well as the parking brake adjuster. And a year after replacing the control arm, shit is making noise again, clunking away. My german cars never had these issues.

These ford's are rust buckets lol. Not sure why they are but man they rust bad. Especially in the north
