Good video, just replaced my axle on my 05 300c awd today. Pain to replace and autozone sold me an axle for a rwd 300 which blew apart within a day of use. So now I gotta do it again. The axles for this 300c awd has to be special ordered at parts stores.

Hi. Summer 2024. Great video. I have the same issue on my 14 Charger Enforcer. HAd a local mechanic replace the whole left rear axle last year, and now I'm having the issue on the right rear. But the problem comes and goes. Car was fine for the past 2 weeks, and then this morning, the ABS and traction control lights came on. The codes were U140C and C003A.....improbable date from the rear right wheel sensor. Live data showed a flat line on the right rear compared to the left. I had changed the sensor, problem persists. I will try to check the reluctor wheel, or tone ring to see if its there or damaged. I have a spare tone ring. My question: how did you get that wheel bearing off? It uses those inverted Torx screws (what genius decided that) and they are very fragile, especially after 9 winters. Any trick to getting them loose? I can get a set of those sockets. Heat them? Penetrating oil? Impact gun? Go by hand? Thanks for any suggestions.

Haven't heard it called that I heard tone ring. Probably why all the auto parts stores looked at me like I was an idiot. Anyway I'm having a hell of a time trying to get mine on a 2010 charger. It is the right part I checked numerous times.. any suggestions?

So there is a plastic and metal ring tone ? Do you need to replace Both or just plastic one?
@PhillipBailey

The tone ring is magnetic material on a steel backing that is pressed onto the outside of the CV joint. Its available on ebay but not sold at most parts stores.

Hi Phillip I have this problem. Where did you get the reluctor ring? It seems to only be available separate from axel in UK??

The part you provided a link to, does that come with everything you need (besides tools of course)

That's just the ring but pretty much all you need so long as you don't break the speed sensor or damage the wheel bearing taking it apart.

Watched hole series. Great trouble shooting. Perhaps the tone wheel was damaged during a brake service.

No that's not possible. The tone ring is on the axle shaft just before it goes into the wheel bearing. It's actually quite common for it to fall off. What threw me on this is both sensors failing at the same time two different ways. The car was not drivable when it was towed in. I believe one sensor had failed but didn't disable the vehicle until the other side failed.

I'm having the same problem my car was drivable almost 1 year and now limp mode and when I'm deleting the code all light came back on and limp mode kick in after 50 feet of driving ...

Last summer after doing a donuts all light came on so I guess i lost one tone ring and then last month the other one fall off because i just can't delete the code and the car won't go over 30kph

Good video, well explained. Is there an actual tool to buy that would press the new sensor reluctor ring into place?
@PhillipBailey
3 жыл бұрын
I'm not aware of a specific tool since the dealer does not even sell the reluctor as they would replace the entire axle shaft they don't have a service tool. A piece of pipe the correct size would work best. Be very careful that it's going on straight. Good luck

@@daviddoesit2341 well to just replace the cv shaft reluctor I'd quote 1.5 to 2.0 hours. You might end up replacing the wheel bearing too which would be additional parts only.

Hi Phillip. My rear speed sensors fail when I hit 3rd gear. What would be causing that?
@PhillipBailey

Both sides? What codes is it setting? Is it related to 3rd gear or the speed. Try driving in manual 2nd see it is speed related

@duanebonney what did you replace? Rear crown and pinion? Entire carrier? Are the cv shafts original? So your car is not an all wheel drive then.

@duanebonney possibly mismatched parts? If you remove the speed sensors are the tone rings centered in the sensor hole opening. Are the sensors new and if so the correct part. The tone rings are impregnated with magnetic poles maybe they were damaged by coming into contact with a magnetic field?

I'm assuming this car and many others I see on these videos live in areas with now and thus salt on the roads....I find the rust utterly beyond belief.....thankfully in Australia snow is so rare that road salting is virtually non existent.
