I bought a brand new 2019 Tundra SR5+ 4x4 DC 4.6L for $34k Canadian, or $25k US dollars. I got $11k off in incentives. It was the smoothest vehicle I had ever owned!!! Unfortunately it couldn’t tow my 3500lbs trailer. It just wasn’t geared right.

Yes, instead of a simple spin on oil filter you instead get an environmentally friendly breakable plastic housing plus the joy of spilling used oil all over yourself and your driveway that eventually ends up in the storm drain.

Those plastic caps sometimes are not going to turn without a 1/2" breaker bar. It has nothing to do with the final torque. I believe they oversized them from the factory. Probably afraid it would leak or accidentally vibrate loose. I could not remove or install mine without a 2 foot breaker bar. The $14 aluminum caps are a must. Sorry but I was going behind the factory guys. It's also why the dealer WILL not touch your oil filter. That's right . The engineers and a practical common sense guy need to have a talk.

The only time I've ever had a problem with over tightening is when the dealer did my oil change. Other than that it all comes off fine when I torque it at 18ft lbs. However, now I have purchased a metal one so that I don't have to worry even if I have the dealer do it.

I love these V8's and absolutely "No Turbo" to over work and ruin the engines. I get pretty excited when I don't see rust eating the whole under carriage of the vehicle. I live in the Midwest and there is not much of any vehicle that isn't consumed by RUST🔥😡
