I like how the vintage meets the present with the modifications. Very sweet looking/sounding ride.

I am speechless! One day you will ship one of these over to me in Sweden. Just so you'll know. I restored a Seafoam Blue -47 Chief nad rode it for several years without any problems. Sadly I had to sell it a few years back but the Indian is always in my blood and will always be. Thank you, Kiwi Mike, for taking care of the Spirit!

I had a bike similar except not so shiny - in 1962 - an Indian Chout - dirt track racer - chromed leaf spring front end - jockey 3 speed on the left right between my legs. Could shift by sliding forward on the seat. This bike has the same lines - memory is 52 years back - paid $200 back then.

Brakes are one area where function is more important than authenticity. Having felt how wimpy the full width single leading shoe drum brakes are on a number of the classic British twins, I can only imagine how crappy the much smaller brakes would be on the vintage American bikes!

You know what I just realized? The posture of early motorcycles, like these Indian bikes for example are pretty similar to the ones on crotch rockets, like the ninja. It's between a sport and a standard posure where the rider sits on top of the bike and leans forward, holding themselves with their hands on the handlebars which are placed low. If the hanldbars didn't go out at all, he would be leaning a little more and I swear he would be sitting on it like a rocket. Look up early crotch rockets.

It's not backfiring, that's the sound of a an old long stroke American engine with only straight pipe headers! There's no mufflers, reversion cones or anything on this engine just tubing for an exhaust, the sound you are hearing is the engine's compression when he lets off the throttle, you get that classic "cackle" sound, normally you never hear it while it's under acceleration only when you let off and it's decelerating! Newer bikes will never sound like these old classics! =D
