My 2012 Overland has over 374,000 miles and I've experienced a few of the issues you mentioned. For the grommet leak, I used Gorilla Waterproof Patch and Seal Clear Spray and that worked perfectly. I sprayed a couple of coats around all of the grommets and haven't experienced a leak since. Recently, I had a couple of lifters replaced to resolve the annoying ticking sound that had developed. The mechanic said that he was amazed at how clean the internals of the engine was given the mileage. As far as the fuel pump relay is concerned, after the recall fix was done, I've replaced the relay a couple of times. As you indicated, the fix seems to be temporary. In fact, I still have a problem with the relay. Occasionally, after pressing the start button, the vehicle will try to start but after about 3-4 seconds of it trying, I'll press the button again to stop it. But if I immediately press the start button again, the vehicle will start up normally. There's no pattern as to when the problem will occur, but it always starts on the second attempt. It's as if the relay gets stuck and the first start attempt causes it to reset. I could replace the relay again but I'm just too lazy. I've never had it shut off while I'm driving but I probably should replace it just it case. A couple more problems I've experienced that seem to be fairly common for this generation of JGC's is a leaking oil cooler and a leaking transmission cooler. I put over 290,00 miles on my 3 previous vehicles and experienced a few problems with them as well. So the issues I've experienced with my Overland are pretty much expected. Nevertheless, I have really enjoyed driving it and it's probably been my vehicle thus far. I still get comments about how good it looks!

i have a 2013 thats exactly like yours! overland with brown and black interior, but it has the 4x4 air suspension and 5.7 v8. the leather dash puffing up is super common and there was onc ean open recall for it, but it is now closed unfortunately. problems ive had are the leather dash puffing up, the wood trim cracking and falling off (which is also really common, especially in texas heat). and some air suspension issues, gon through 2 air compressors, and dealt with few leaks, but i still have it and use it every day, its an amazing car apart from some issues now and then, its also only at 80k miles right now, so I wanna keep it till 100 or so thousand miles, then get rid of it. the v8 is definitely worth it but the air suspension is where you would want to skip out on.

Great update - I wonder if the ticking noise you are experiencing is from worn motor mounts. They use fluid filled mounts and when they go it can make interesting noises. Good luck.

@@RandomRichZ I actually got rid of the truck about a year ago due to the fuel pump relay issue. I kept having intermittent issues even after the recall where they spliced the harness. At random, the truck would have issues starting, bog down in traffic, etc, to the point that I was keep 3-4 relays in the glovebox and pulling over to replace them when the issue would occur. It was just way too stressful (and unsafe) with no definite solution. Other than that, the truck was perfect, and I would have kept it for life.

Honestly, I got rid of it a few months after this video. It simply was not aging well. Too many weird electrical issues, and the interior was literally starting to fall apart. I was having to keep fuel pump relays in the truck because it would shut off or not start at any given moment. I may consider a 2017+ but this earlier model just had far too many kinks that weren’t worked out yet.

@jayg5650

The majority of GC sold since 93 have been 2wd. For a lot of consumers (and me being in Texas) it just doesn’t make a difference to opt for 4wd. Less on purchase price and maintenance, better fuel economy. For me, the 2wd has been more than effective in inclement weather, and probably less than 10% of GC owners actually take them off-road.
