But after going for a test drive and looking at her butter face of an instrument setup and dealing with the CUE system made me want to punch myself in the face. I'm dying to purchase an ATS V but those two things are holding me back from doing so. The issue with the CUE system is that is not fun to use and isn't driver freely, throw that shit away asap. Both are crap and are unbecoming of a Cadillac. I'm 100% positive if you change those two small things more ppl like myself and many others will be proud to own a Cadillac ATS V, along with other Cadillacs alike.

I think Cadillac should offer the Recaro Seats in the 2016 ELR, as an option, simular to BMW'S M packaging. Let customers pay and for what they want. I personally don't need all the ATS V'S horsepower, but I want the sporty look. Also with the ELR offer 19" wheels simular to the 18" sport rims found on the regular ATS, those are way better looking than the 20" sport rims on the 2016 ELR. Also, with the new logo, there is no way it should not have the same colors of the front and rear badges, why do the wheels not show off the badge in color...like a Porsche?? These suggestions may seem small in retrospect, but trust me they will help to sell units, which is what Cadillac is trying to do.

The seat control display on the CUE system is not intuitive at all. The swoopy arrows that are shown give no indication of what you are going to be controlling. Cadillac could learn a bit from Audi in this respect. Yeah...I traded in a D4 Audi S8 for an ATS-V 6mt. The S8 was a beast straight line, surprisingly agile for its size, and sinfully luxurious inside. But.....boring in the end. I've owned a lot of cars, and the ATS-V is at the top of the list for fun...hands down, no question. It is a go-cart in handling and a rocket with some minor mods. Completely engaging and immersive. BMS should take note...this is how you build a drivers car!

Not sure how much I can watch. Around the 9 minute mark he talks about the shear panel under the front of the car and says it's 25mm thick. I guess he doesn't realize that 25mm is .98 inches thick or almost 1 inch thick. It's obvious that panel is not an inch thick. Can you imagine what that would weigh. Hey Dave I love what you guys have created. Took the ATS V for a test drive yesterday and its one sick car. You can feel that their was a lot of time spent on designing this car as a whole. I enjoyed the ATS V so much I felt like I was in heaven, it was all put together so well. The only thing that must change and I believe I speak for everyone on this, is the Instrument Cluster needs to be shit canned. When driving the ATS V in all its glory my mind couldn't stop thinking about the dash and how horrible it looked. It just made me FEEL like I was driving a regular ATS and killed some of the joy.

ATS-V has the performance without a doubt. Now, you need to work on the gauge layout (think CTSV), interior styling, SHITCAN the Bose stereo options (Partner with HK, B&O, Burmeister or Levinson), then add more standard features and be cheaper than the M3 --- and it would be perfect. Bravo on the overall car though!

Everything is great in general, just get rid of CUE. Can we go back to the Gen 2 UI? BTW, the other thing I am not a big fan of is going forced induction and lower displacement for the sake of going forced induction and lower displacement. Let's get one thing straight -- THE 3.6TT LF4 (or the LF3 for that matter) IS NOT MORE FUEL EFFICIENT THAN THE LT1 6.2 V8. This is not my crazy theory, it is a fact. The ATS-V gets 17 mpg (city) / 25 mpg (hwy) from the 3.6 liter force fed mill. The 2017 Camaro SS weighing about the same gets 17 mpg (city) / 28 mpg (hwy) from the LT1 6.2 V8. Both cars use the GM 8L90 8-speed automatic. Both cars weigh about 3700 lbs. Both cars make about 460 hp and about 450 lb-ft (give or take five). The LT1 V8 is the cheaper and LIGHTER engine actually thanks to the absence of the big and bulky DOHC heads. The Pushrod V8 is not low tech and it is a very mass efficient design with a very high power density (per unit weight or space occupied). You have it. The competition doesn't. Use it! The only "plus" I can see from a personal standpoint to the LF4 is that if you are willing to remap the ECU and crank up the boost and timing. You can get a "free" 60~80 hp out of it. People who are into ECU hacking will like it more than the NA V8. But, as GM, do you really want to increase the propensity for unauthorized mods which can then present warranty disputes you need to sort out? I don't think so. From a purely technical standpoint, if you are going to stick to a turbo six, the twin turbo layout is not ideal. A better (and more uniquely Cadillac) design will be to flip the heads such that the exhaust exits in the valley of the vee. These can then drive a SINGLE larger turbo instead of two small ones. The single turbo in the middle and on top of the engine can have two outlets to feed two air-to-water heat exchangers and a pair of intake manifolds on each side. This retains the minimized compressed volume for minimum pressurization lag. A single larger turbo is generally more efficient and more responsive. Larger impellers have higher efficiencies because while the geometry scales, air molecules and viscosity does not. The Reynolds number change and bigger aerodynamic structures are more efficient -- it's the same reason a 777 wing can be made more efficient than a 737 wing. Don't believe me? Go check out the compressor maps of a small turbo then a large one. The small turbos have peak efficiencies in the mid 60% range the large ones mid to high 70% range. The urban myth that two smaller turbos spool faster is complete and utter rubbish. Yes, a smaller turbo will spool faster than a larger one when fed the same exhaust flow. But, two smaller turbos being fed HALF the exhaust flow will not spool faster than a large turbo being fed the entire exhaust flow. Period. Oh, and boy there is ONE gaff. The ATS-V has Titanium-Aluminide turbine wheels in the turbos. These do not replace aluminum wheels, they replace a steel alloy turbine wheel. That is why they are lighter. Typical turbos have steel or steel-nickel alloy turbines for heat resistance and only the compressor wheel is aluminum. The specific Borg-warner KKK unit used has Titatium-ALuminide turbines which meets the heat reisistance requirement while being lighter (albiet more expensive).

I own a 2018 ATS with the 3.6L engine. I have two gripes so far. One is that the highly reflective CUE center NAV display is prone to fingerprints. Either redesign the face covering like many aftermarket GPS faces, which are a slightly matte finish, or sell a stick on glass protector like a smartphone. Something that is sacrificial and can be replaced. Also, put a dang gas cap back on the vehicle. Cadillac says to improve user experience owners now dont have to handle a dirty gas cap. Hellllloooo... Its not the gas cap we are concerned about, its the filthy gas pump handle touched by thousands. Without a way to lock the gas door, the tank is vulnerable to vandalism. I would love to hear a response from Cadillac if you're truly listening to owners.
@richardcoker5095
5 жыл бұрын
Despite them taking it from Ford, I like and appreciate the lack of a gas cap and the flap locks with the vehicle. Neither that locked flap or locked gas cap will truly stop someone from siphoning your gas. Fortunately, that is not a big problem where I park normally nor in my garage.
@steadyeddie7453
5 жыл бұрын
I can appreciate your unique situation on the gas cap. Unfortunately not all of us have secure parking at shopping malls, grocery stores, parks, stadium parking lots, etc. Providing a gas cap door with an interior release and/or a locking gas cap wont stop someone hell bent on siphoning my gas, but the same goes for locks on my house. If they really want in, a lock wont stop them, but I still use them. Not having them is what we call being a soft target. And no flap lock or gas cap just invites someone to dump something into the tank. People can be vindictive when they see a nice car. Plus, when I wash the car, I like to open the flap to clean the backside. Cant do that without covering the fuel fill inlet. Give me my gas cap back.
@richardcoker5095
5 жыл бұрын
@@steadyeddie7453 Maybe not secure at malls but siphoning gas or dumping stuff in the tank just seems unlikely and they do have to pry it open if the car is locked, though I see your point. I do go ahead wash/clean around the gas filling area as water should NOT go inside the gas tank without something opening the valve inside. You might need to dry a little bit of the area headed towards gas tank but it shouldn't get in the gas tank. Have to add, if you have thought about the Trifeca tune or equivalent? Worth it :)

Poor cluster dept and weight control needs some slim...fast. Saw a black coupe on used lot, beautiful car otherwise. Vette is a much better deal. LOL my '08 Cobalt SS had no lift shift. I think it was the first consumer car with it. I haven't driven this car, but i really want one. I hope they refined the feature. Lookin' to trade my 08 balt and a '18 XLT supercab F-150 Off-road for one of these. I don't need two cars but I need this one car. :)

CTS-V Video would be great! Will be buying either the ATS-V or CTS-V come next August! The scalpel or sledgehammer! I'm leaning towards the sledgehammer.

No turbo lag? Really? Turbo lag is the one glaring criticism of most of the other video and written reviews online. Sadly, may be more of GM drinking its own Kool-Aid. Great car, regardless. Just please be honest about shortcomings - it's not "no turbo lag"; more honest would be "reduced turbo lag...".

Hey guys, ats v seems to be a underrated sports car. What surprising me not to say was shocking, the poor instruments tach etc., here should be one like from the cts v in full digital way or just another design. Even the turn signal arrows are horrible.... I also don't like the quality of the exhaust system, I am a welder and this welding looks bad. I saw the same on 2018 camaro.... But one answer is missing, how are the turbos cooled? And will be parts available? Because you ended the production of these cars?! By the way.... Why? Best regards

All you people out there critical of CUE are just reading some horse shit written by some auto journalist that hasn't spent any time in the drivers seat. I previously owned a '14 ATS sedan and found it simple to use once you got the hang of it. Just a couple of days if you have a reasonable amount of intelligence. The ATS-V is an outstanding automobile and worthy of world class ranking. And it's made in Lansing, Mi. Who'd a thunk it?

Cadillac, who ever designed the gauge cluster and allowed it to ship should be shot. The new ATS-V is a great looking car, but I can't see myself in one due to that ugly gauge cluster. I mean what were you thinking? A center speedo and an ugly one at that? Really? Please change it on your next release, please, that is the only thing holding me away from getting this car.

If they could build a 2.0l-2.5l twin turbo vts this will defo be aimed at a younger audience and cheaper on fuel. Also need to bring this over to the UK and be at the same price point as the US.

Kind of surprised the Chief Engineer of Cadillac is not more knowledgeable on turbochargers. He referred to the turbine wheel as a turbine vane. Then he said the new material was Aluminide Titanium, which is correct, but it replaced a heavy Inconel Turbine wheel, not an aluminum one like he said. Heck an aluminum turbine wheel would melt in no time!

Cadillac, add active aero to the v's. It does not need to be visible too the naked eye. Also, innovate some things that no one else has done or is likely to do. Think of the mechanical boldness Dodge proceeded to use in making the demon the demon. They have an interchiller, and all kinds of performance gadgets. But that car is in a class of its own in some ways. Bring some of that boldness to the v's. Otherwise keep up the good work.

That's the normal way to shift at least in my past. That nolift shift is for normal drivers speed shifting, its one thing that makes me think i can run a ATV faster in A 1/4 then someone with the feature. Call me lets make it happen. Oh i am experienced as a performance driver.

id like to see the exhaust tips welded a bit cleaner. other than that any weight that can be shed should be shed. fold down rear seats. the gauge cluster does not represent a 75k dollar car.

Take that atsv 4t awd, combine it with that twin turbo engine and crank up the boost. Invest a little more tech and GM will have themselves a mild gtr

AWD will make it a WILD GT-R. ATS-V's stock tune is castrated. An aftermarket tune, 100% stock, produces 500whp.
