I bought a brand new Jazz Sport in the UK back at the end of 2018. All was well for just over 4 years. It was an okay drive. Nothing special . Bit noisy at 70 MPH (112kmh). Infotainment system was just about passable. Fuel economy was okay, and it's party trick is that it's quite spacious, with the magic seats. But at just over 4 years old, then my low pressure fuel pump went wrong. In the USA they had a recall for I'm pretty sure the same model as my one . However Honda UK seems to apparently think that my car was not affected by the major batch of faulty Denso fuel pumps. So I've got a £1200 bill spread over a few garage visits whilst the fault was trying to be found. It's really easy to find that there was a massive recall of 700,000 Honda vehicles around the age of my one about Denso low pressure fuel pump failures, but somehow I magically never got one of those, but my fuel pump has gone wrong. Honda UK are being really useless. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy another Honda car or motorcycle EVER EVER EVER again. Things go wrong sometimes, but Honda UKs abysmal response to me has meant I can never ever trust Honda again.

I drove it from Belgium to Italy and back. You do a mountain climb in 4th but if you love listening how a Honda engine reves at 4500+ rpm, this thing is absolutely fine for any road you encounter on the trip. Biggest plus: big enough store all the stuff of 2 persons for a one week trip, yet still compact and nimble enough for crappy parking spaces and narrow Italian roads. I have the car in the F1 Toro Rosso blue with tinted windows, black/chrome alloy wheels and an aftermarket chrome exhaust extension. The car looks as attractive as you get with a car of this dimensions!

Why anyone would call the CVT "power sucking" is beyond me. Compared to the manual transmission, and to any old-fashioned planetary gear automatic, the Honda CVT enables more of the engine's power to get to the wheels, and prevents power being lost by forcing the engine to turn faster than it needs to, to supply the amount of power needed to accelerate at any particular rate, or to move the car forward at any particular speed, and it enables the engine to use less fuel while doing so - that makes the CVT power-saving, not power-sucking. The CVT model has faster 0 to100 kmh acceleration measurements than the manual transmission model, and in all types of driving, it uses less fuel. I only wish we had the 1.3 liter engine, or even the 1.2, in the United States, as it has better fuel economy. With the 1.5 liter engine the Environmental Protection Agency rates the CVT Model as using 39 mpg on the highway, 33 around town, and 36 on average. It has more than enough of acceleration for passing and merging onto limited access highways, and gets up steep hills with power to spare, so the smaller engine would be fine here in the US, in my opinion.

I've had two Jazzes, and not a single thing went wrong with them. One of them had the earlier iteration of the CVT box, and while it does drone if you plant your foot and expect things to happen, you learn to be more progressive with the throttle and avoid the 'rubber band' effect of high revs without a concomitant increase in speed, although this obviously means stately progress. I'm still deliberating over my next car, mostly because my 53 Panda resolutely refuses to be anything other than reliable and a wonderful (if simple) companion over the past 50,000 miles..... excellent review, thanks for the update. And yes, the Jazz is now rather too expensive.

this channel is fast becoming my go to for car reviews. this guy and the other one have grown into their styles. anyway enough sycophants...agree about the interior space of these cars but not much else, I think Honda have to make a 'hot' (or even 'warm') version of this to even have a chance to appeal to younger buyers...this will still be bought by the blue rinsers.

Brilliant car but too dear. My last Jazz, a base model, purchased in 2014 with under 10 miles on the clock, cost £9k. OK, it was part of a dealer's bulk buy pre-registered stock, but the reality is that the very cheapest deal I have encountered for the base model of the latest version is £12.5k.

Ive owned two of them . Thinking of either another Jazz or a HRV . Only ever had to replace brake pads/ tyres. When the son was at uni the amount of stuff I chucked in it was unreal. On the downside its an old farts car , fast it ain't. However it has some surprise's. I got mine up a snow covered , ungritted hill earlier this month where mercs, beamers and a jag couldn't even think of going . All the weight is over the front wheels . Honda do charge though for it, best option . Easter sales/ delivery mileage or one returned from PCP deal . Let's face it a low mileage one isn't going to be thrashed.

I can fit THREE mountain bikes and THREE people is this car. It is unrivaled on space and practicality and reliability. It has more space in the back than say an Audi Q5 in such a small package. The only negatives are fuel consumption (rivals beat it) and the CVT which although it's convenient it does sound strained when you hurry it a bit. I would love a more lively engine like the 1.5 that is available in certain countries and/or a proper hybrid..

@Hank Marving Hi Hank. My Honda is a 2006 model so it's a few generations older than the current model or the one tested here. For a 15-year-old car the Jazz is fantastically reliable, sublime practicality (more space inside than an Audi Q5), and typical Honda reliability. The car is not without it's niggles/faults though, the main one being the CVT gearbox. It's a car that loves the city but when you push it on the highway it sounds strained although with the right technique it can be bearable and pleasant even. I would not call it an ideal motorway car - I drove a new Skoda Fabia on the motorway recently and it was way way more comfortable (at speed) and quiet and would be one of my choices of a supermini if I was buying now. It has a big boot (388 ltr I think) but lacks the Honda's smart seats and bullet proof reliability...

What goes on through Honda's mind? More expensive than almost all other brands, touching BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A-Class money, still without turbo engines (c'mon Honda, its 2017!!) and with probably the most expensive parts of any other brand. Why Honda, why? You did the same with the Civic! Very few engines and way more expesive than it should... Plus there are nowhere to testdrive, if you are going to buy you have to wait 9 mo to a year... And then you wonder why VAG and PSA take all the sales...
