Absolute quality content here. Very much appreciated. I TT’d my 2018 and had minor valve float at first.... got rid of the factory cat back for true dual turbo-back 3” pipe with straight through mufflers and it all went away.

Usually valvesprings from the OEMs are on the light side for longevity, and twin cam engines dont need a lot of valvespring since the valves are smaller and lighter. The other problem is spring design and harmonics. If the harmonics are not controlled, then the valves will float

great video. I do several circle track roller cam motors. Also should include what camshafts and what max safe RPM along with the seat and open pressures to compliment each other and also compensate for spring pressures in a boosted motor. Once into valve float the engine is a grenade waiting to break something.. Most people do not realize 200 to 300 RPM over max safe is asking for trouble.
@PalmBeachDyno
5 жыл бұрын
The reason this even happened is we have gotten lazy with these engines because they usually RPM with no issues without having to know much. Just drop in a spring and let her rip. Not right at all, but that is how it is with these newer engines and why people get into trouble

They need to be shimmed or wait for a new spring to be developed for the 18+ engines or maybe use a different retainer that sits lower into the valve stem. Lots of options, but I can see the problem being assumptions between the 2 generations.

This comes down to people modifying their valve train who should not be doing so. They are trying to stuff a set of springs to it and not measuring installed height.

@@pro5.019 if you were on a dyno, you can also see the valve float on the graph. I was lucky enough to witness this on a buddys car. You should check your plugs and coils. Could be a spark issue?
@pro5.019

@@markregner7478The car is a 2019 TT with 900 miles fuel tests @ E85 on gate spring it makes 8 psi timing and fuel trims are happy. Once boost increases past that point it throws a P0300 code, I changed the plugs and gapped them to .018 no difference. I know what valve float sounds like and this thing doesn't do it, at a loss right now.

Are there taller replacement valve springs for the 2018 plus mustang, because if someone shims the PAC 1234X spring too much they could get coil bind and that would ruin your day also.
