I have this same bike and love it. I have the DPX2 on it right now and I am thinking about switching out to a X2. But overall this bike is amazing. If your thinking about getting one you won't regret it.

Hey, I have the same bike. The issue with the cable guides (rubber stoppers) on the cables can be solved by pushing them in and then put a zip tie pretty tight on the cable right by the rubber stopper. It solved the same issue for me!

emily cercone Thanks! I’m really happy with the X2; it’s super plush when it gets rough and I’ve yet to bottom out the full stroke. I got the X2 right off the bat so I can’t really compare it directly to the dpx2 but it’s a popular upgrade for sure. There’s also the dhx2 coil shock to consider too. The Pinkbike YT forum has a lot of opinions on rear shock options 🤙🤙

Good honest review!!! Question: why the 27.5 and not the 29er....???
@MTBPortal

Thanks man, appreciate the feedback. I don't think I necessarily need the 29er. I feel the 27.5 climbs great and we don't really have a lot of roots or obstacles in general in So. Cal. Plus less total weight for the 27.5, no concerns with getting buzzed by the rear tire and the 27.5 handles pretty tight.

I have exactly the same bike but xl size. Chatter got reduced when i changed front tire (e13 is aramid strenghtened, way too harsh tire). Further i put in 2 more air spacers in the fork, it already has 1 in, so now i have 3, and reduced air pressure about 7psi. I reduced low speed compression to lowest (its important that wheight shift is still ok if you change low speed on fork and shock, less low speed in fork shifts wheight to front, increase low speed shifts wheight on the back but same time harshen up the fork, also you can change these settings on the back with the shock)

Hey Simon, thanks for the suggestions! That's too bad about the E13 tire, I was planning to replace the rear and now have a reason to replace the front as well. Completely dropping the low speed compression in the fork makes me a bit nervous, especially if I will need to make significant adjustments to the shock which feels great right now. I still need to make adjustments to the fork as-is to use more of the available travel. After, I will experiment with incrementally adding volume spacers to the fork. Are you setup tube-less and what kind of tire pressures are you running? I typically go for 28psi in the front and 30psi in the rear. Thanks!

@@MTBPortal ok sounds understandable. So you ride 28psi in the front tire (and this with a even more harsh tire) and you want to change suspension setting.. that makes me really scratch my head ;) i run tubeless all my bikes even downhill. And even on my downhill front tire i ride less pressure than 28psi. I wonder where your grip is gone with that pressure in the front. To not overcook first try with 25 psi. But as far as i can say i shred all the time 21 max 23 psi in the front without cushcore or other insert and neeeeever had a flat.

I very much like the fit of the medium, couldn't imagine being on the large size. Beyond looking at how the sizes are named, I recommend comparing the frame stack, reach and more importantly the spread. The frame spread is sqrt(stack^2 + reach^2) and it is a good measure of how a frame will "feel". You can compare this to bikes in sizes that you know feel comfortable. Some more on frame spread here if you're interested; kzitem.info/news/bejne/sWduuamqkot9aH4

High speed chatter: - Check front tire pressure and lower it (tubeless obviously). Beefier tires mean you can run lower pressure (i.e. DH casing = lowest possible). I weigh 205lbs before gearing up and run about 25 psi front tire on DoubleDown casing Minions... try going way down to like 22 PSI it will be a world of difference. Experiment, but run as long as possible to where you do not get rim strikes on rocks or rolling of the sidewall in hard cornering. - Fork - back off HSC, that is the relevant adjuster for high speed chatter. Can also try one more volume spacer and lower PSI. Also make sure the LSR/HSR on the fork is not too slow, use the Fox recommended settings for rebound based on the air pressure. - There's some crossover with LSC on the fork but it's really HSC and air pressure that's critical to high speed chatter/brake bumps.
@MTBPortal

@hobmarg, That's some great advice on the fork settings. I was already experimenting with the HSC and did not notice a significant difference. I understand the HSC and LSC relationship in that LSC adjustments change affect where HSC begins to take over (in terms of force). I think you're spot on about running a lower tire pressure though. I'll be out riding some familiar trails this week and will report back on how the bike performed. The main reason I was looking at the bars as the problem is that I ran a Fox 36 and tires at similar pressures on my previous bike and did not have the same chatter. It could also potentially be attributed to a carbon frame vs. an aluminum frame. Either way, thanks and will report back.

@@MTBPortal One other thought just popped into my head: have you cracked the lowers of the 36's to make sure there's the proper amount of lubricating oil in them? Sometimes forks come from the factory dry (Nice QC on a $1,000+ part, I know). Happened to my friend's Factory 40's on his Tues and on my Pikes on my Jeffsy... yeah handlebar is another possible culprit, no experience with the Renthals myself.

Tire pressure made a HUGE difference. Running 24 psi in the front and 28 psi in the rear felt great. I rode fast through some relatively chunky stuff and I would way 75% of the chatter is gone. The remaining I can tune further with the fork or just leave it be, which I'm ok with at this point. Thanks for the advice.

@@dev_IL666 Yup, I've been running 22/24 front and rear (I'm about 170lbs in gear) and it feels smooth. Was at Snow Summit this weekend and had to drop to 20/22 because it was so choppy out there.
