Great review I been riding street bike for the past 2 years I went through 7 motorcycle already Never did off road. Just got Honda crf 300 2022 I felt it have no power it’s to small for my frame I’m 6 ft 220 pound 45 years old Do you think I could handle the Ktm 500 6 days or is it way too much for me I’m riding the Ducati peak pike V4. And I love it I’m afraid to be to much bike for the ktm 500 6 days. Unfortunately I can’t test ride it to find out before I buy it The dealer have both ktm 350 and ktm 500 please advise I need help making my decision

With all the maintenance some KTMs require I would feel like the bike owns me instead of me owning the bike. The performance is great, I just don't want to spend as much time wrenching as riding. That being said, I can't wait for all the content and series you will be able to generate with this bike!

KTMs don't really require any more maintenance than any other comparable bike. The maintenance intervals for the dirt bikes are list for racing purposes. Dual sport use doesn't require the crazy maintenance intervals. They are solid and reliable.

Thanks Ian! I am so torn! 350 or 500 EXC F? I finally decided I really want the magic button, so I'm going to retire my 2004 XR400R I picked up a 2021 Kawasaki 300 in the camel a few months back. Very nice bike, love the suspension, but miss that wow factor of the XR400, so I'm looking at the KTM bikes now. My xr400 has all the power I need, so I suspect the 350 would be pleasing to me, but for 200 bucks more the 500 is sure intriguing.

I bought a 500 and love it. But after riding a buddy's 350, I think it is much more fun, easier to ride, has less vibrations only down a bit on power, and loves high revs. If you like high RPMs, get the 350. If you like thumping, get the 500.

I have a 19 350 exc and a few weeks ago the entire lisence plate assembly broke off my bike while I was doing 70+ on a dirt road. Everything below the brake light. I found the lisence plate the next day after searching forever and I replaced the taillight assembly with the one from Sicass racing, its tucked up real nice and the tire isnt going to catch the plate. Now I just need to find new turn indicator because when they flew off they broke and the ones I want are out of stock. I noticed the plate was missing within a mile of where it fell off and it still took multiple searches along the stretch of road to find it.

@@BigRockMoto So your saying get the 690 over the 500? I ride dirt roads, double track through the woods and some street. I currently own an 07 ktm 250xcf-w plated and its a good bike. Not great on the road but fun in the woods. Most of the road riding i do currently is to get to the trail or hop off a trail and head back home. I am looking at the ktm 500 exc-f, Honda 450L and ktm 350exc-f. I would like to do some multi day trips, 2-4 day trips, and was hoping the ktm 500 would be sufficient for that. I never gave the 690 much thought because I didn't think it would be a good bike in the woods.
