I think it's good that pelican is upgrading the drive. It's like anything the first model is always going to have some bugs. You wait for the next one once they get it right. And it's not if you can afford a hobie or not. But for the price of a hobie might as well get a boat

Awesome walkthrough. Awesome kayak. It's crazy long at 12'.6". No garage at my house so I gotta keep it in the middle of the dining room. Lol. Commitment. I have the 1st generation but wouldn't trade it for anything. Cant wait to go camping on it with all the deck space.

I love my 130! I also have the feel free Dorado! Can you compare the stability, absolutely not! But pelican being half the weight, it makes it easier to use in rivers and lakes that are harder to access! But every encounter I've had with customer service a pelican has been awesome! I think for the money you can't go wrong! Now if you want to spend the $3,000 +? Feelfree is an awesome! I have been on the outback I have been on the pro angler. And each one of them offer something the other doesn't! But for anybody looking for an easy to assess pedal kayak they can throw over climb a fence with if they have to? The pelican 130 or now the new 110 would be that kayak! Thank you again for your videos they are awesome and help me decide on what I'm buying!

The front handle has rivets because they didn't put a hatch on the front to access it. If you install a hatch, you can drill out the rivets and replace with bolts.

Thank you for all the information you provide in your videos, I recently bought a pelican Kayak Catch HD 130, the steering system was Broken, I read good reviews from pelican customer service, but I have contacted them several times with no success, now recently when I call the 1800 customer service for number, I get disconnected right away. I just want to make aware of other customers start thinking about buying a Pelican Kayak, to think twice before they do it, Mainly due to poor quality of their parts, and poor customer service, it is very frustrating!!!

Hi Alex! Just wanted to ask you the steering when it’s windy. Mine doesn’t respond so well when it’s windy. You have any experience with that? It’s usually when I stop pedaling and the wind starts to turn me and it will not respond until you get some speed in to start straightening up and then it would go the other direction. Let me know it there’s a fix. Thanks your videos are great brother.

Gotta think for a hobie you get less around that price range and pelican is trying to give you more for less I own multiple pelicans I love everyone for its own reason but they are really light compared to my pdl drive. And easier for my solo fishing trips. Just depends on what your looking for.

@@tumbleweed265 I am glad to hear that. When I started getting into it any pdl drive was extremely pricey And out of my range and it seems like pelican is trying to get into the low end market for ppl like me that don't have that big budget. And believe me I dont take it easy on my kayaks neither do my kids. But alot of the other brands are alot more sometimes double the price. And I did not think you thought they are junk just wanted to give you my opinion on em. That's it.

Gen two is built stronger, you can see they used better material, I have put a lot of hours on it in salt and no issues yet. Follow the best practices, pull the drive out when shallow, when beaching the boat, if there is rocks or stuff pull it out etc

I purchased a Catch 110 HD11 on July 1st, 2020. Upon unboxing of the drive system, I found that the box contained two RIGHT pedals. I called Pelican customer support & was instructed to submit a warranty claim, and provide pictures of the serial# tag and pedals, of which I did. As of date, I’ve had no response from Pelican. I do understand times are difficult right now. I called Pelican customer support for the 2nd time on July 8th. As I began to tell the lady that I received two RIGHT pedals, she began to argue with me stating that both pedals are the same and there is no right or left side. I responded that they are clearly labeled & told her that I e-mailed a picture showing both foot pedals are labeled as RIGHT. The lady was rude, and stated that the picture was not good enough to warrant action on Pelican’s behalf........just ridiculous. I don’t like to bash and am not trying to bash anyone, but this lady was more defensive versus willing to help. The picture I provided clearly shows both pedals labeled as RIGHT.....which I thought was pretty self explanatory. My sister-in-law also purchased a Catch 110 HDII and her pedals are labeled as RIGHT and LEFT just as should be. I’m not impressed so far! I love the kayak, but not the support. Makes me wish I would’ve just waited on the Old Town kayak I had on order.

I have watched a lot of videos about these kayaks and read many reviews. I have owned several mini pelican pontoon boats over the years and I know pelican products are bulletproof and very durable. Based on the videos and reviews the mirage drive copycat doesn't seem to be holding up. I have owned 5 Hobie kayaks over the years and have only had a rudder problem with one of them but the drives went through hell and kept on going. I'm at a point where I do not feel like spending another 3k on a kayak but will in order to not go through all the hastle of having to deal with warranty issues. Can you truthfully say you would put the new drive against the Hobies drive? I'm talking about the HD2. Also I know there are some KZitemrs out there that push a product exclusively due to the companies give them their products for free to test and do reviews for the public. Are you one of those KZitemrs?
@AliexFolgueira

the original pelican drive had issues, a few of my friends had broken ones, the metals were not as strong as the suppliers advertised etc, yet i myself never had an issue with the drives, maybe because i didnt hit a rock, or i took them off before beaching or feathered them out. Look these things are held by a rod, that bends or breaks if you hit something... i have broken hobie drives several times, and i have seen countless people with the same issues, thats why hobie sells spare parts. The HDII are far stronger than the original version but i don't think they are hobie quality yet, also instead of the rod being treated they have a bolt and nut now. I can't promise you that they won't break, but if they do it has warranty for a year. Regardless how i get my kayaks if i bought them or someone lent them to me, or a co sent them for review i always give you my 100% honest opinion.

I love your amazing episodes. I live on the west coast of Florida ( Sarasota). I love to fish and want to buy a kayak that will be good for inshore as well as offshore on calm days of course. One that I can take to the east coast of Florida too. I was looking at the Bonafide RS117 seeing my budget is about $1000. I would love to eventually get a pedal drive but for now just a paddle kayak. What would you recommend with a budget of a $1000? I am 5'8" 180lbs. So not a real big guy. Thanks for any insight you can give me. Keep the awesome videos coming!
