Very impressive Shane!👍The recordings are well put together. I was in Arizona 5 years ago and I'm still enthusiastic about the almost endless expanse of your country. All the best and Kind regards from Germany 🙋♂️Frank

Awesome job with the video and pictures. Makes me miss when I was growing up we custom harvested wheat from Brady, Texas all the way to Moore, Montana then back home to Texas to harvest corn. Long days short nights always ready for rained out day for some needed rest, if you can call washing and polishing combines and trucks rest. Lol

Beautiful family harvest. It is beautiful. I've been watching you for 2 years. With you, it's FAMILY with me. I noticed new machines in you, you are developing. Cool. You make great movies. I often check your channel or there is a new movie. As always, you have wheat harvest earlier. In Poland, we start to mow wheat at the end of July. I watched the harvest movie 50 times that year. Come to my channel. PS. Alex is beautiful. Say hello to Dad and sister. Greetings from Poland.

This will be our first year to run a shelbourne head. I see you have the headsight height control on yours and was wondering if it was a good investment. We are flat ground but do have fields with terraces.
@Shane3507
3 жыл бұрын
It's nice to have but not necessary. When running 5.5-6 MPH and crossing over steep terraces I feel like it doesn't react fast enough due to the speed of the machine so sometimes I disengage it and run it manually because I can see what's coming and predict it faster then the sensors. When we bought the header it already had the sensors and wiring on it, we just had to buy the Insight box that mounts on the backside of the header.

Just found your channel, followed the harvest when I was a young buck from Colorado to KS/OK back then to MT. Never seen a wheat head like that, what is it and how does it work?
@Shane3507

Called a stripper header. It strips the head/seeds and leaves the complete stalk. Less throughput for the machine and standing straw helps conserve moisture!

I’m interested in your rotation of crops the year after stubble like that. Do you use a disc seeder to get through it? What would you sow beside wheat or is that all you grow. Cropping farmer from Western Australia. Cheers.
@Shane3507
3 жыл бұрын
We've been growing wheat on wheat, no-till for many years. Just sow back into previous year's stubble with a double-disc drill. A single disc seeder would be better for less disturbance most likely but they are expensive and high maintenance! I've uploaded a video a few weeks ago of sowing back into that straw this fall.
@toppops22

Shane Heinze thanks for replying. After I posted my comment I saw your disc drill machine sowing into your wheat stubble. I saw a very similar set up with the Great Plains sowing something in Idaho as well, but he had finely tilled his soil, no trash. Enjoyed your videos and seeing your set up. Don’t forget to vote 😊
